I feel uncomfortable trying to correct you since you obviously are more knowledgeable than me but from what I read the type 003 CNV will be closer to the Ford class with a tonnage of 110,000 tons.

What I have heard has indicated 90,000+ tons for the nuclear carriers.

    Time will tell.

It could easily be at 100,000 tons. Truthfully, right now it is probably unclear what it will actually be...but the "chatter" has also stated 90,000+ tons.

    Thank you my friend.

Your compliments mean a lot to me and are an great honor.

    Thanks for reposting too.

We havwe the vessels, and the programs to set things straight, if we could just get an admin and a congresss ready and willing to do their duty for the country and its defense.

The XUmwalt could be a fantastic vessel, and be the foundation for the CCX.

The LCS could become the foundations for the new FFs.

The Rail Gun and Laser are both ready to be tested real time at sea...in fatc the laser has been at sea for several years now and with the type of power available on the Ford and Xumwlat...and potentially the Burke III, they could be fielded on those vessels...same with the rail gun, both a ASW version and an CIWS version.

The F-35C is going to be good to go...and despite the raings of those progressive liberals, and some of America's rivals...it is going to revolutionize air warfare, both conventional and carrier warfare down to the LHD/A and LPHs.

SO, we have a very good poistion, despite some of the unbelievable short sighted and wrogn head decisions of the last eght years...we still have a strong foundation to build on.

God's speed to you my fr

Thank you my friend...and I say that sincerely.

And, in all honestly and truth, I wish God's blessings and His speed to you and yours...irrespective of any differences.

What unites us if far stronger than some of those things.

Guys, this thread is about the PLAN 2018 assessment.

Not about the US Procurement process or beefs with it ans US spending, or the Russian procurement and spending.

Please, let's not bring all of those tired arguments to this thread.

DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS MODERATION

Too early to tell however regardless of whether the future CVNs are 110k or sub 100k, the fact is they will exponentially increase in many order of magnitudes the power projection and capabilities of PLAN naval air combat.

Thank you for putting together this report Jeff. It is something I look forward to reading every year, and I've read almost 10 of them so far! All the best with everything, and I sincerely hope there will be many more to come.

Several excellent pictures of the PLAN Carrier battle group, and a couple of a combined carrier-amphibious task force...a large PLAN grouping:

Before 2010, if someone had told you that between 2015 and 2018 you'd be seeing these types of pictures regularly...they would have scoffed at it (except for a lot of us here on SD).

    Well, there's no scoffing now.
