Hong-Kong Protests

That's why it is absurd that the HK government keeps appointing these judges in the name of impartiality. The HK government needs to take an active roles to appoint judges and fill important positions. As when the shit hits the fan, the HK government would be all alone without any allies if they keep playing the impartial and small government game.

As for Carrie Lam, unless the justice department decided to prosecute her or the ICAC decided to charge her for corruption, there really not much the oppositions can do.

These judges and the colonialist peculiarities of the HK judicial system is not about prioritizing impartiality, rather it is to prioritize comfort and familiarity for Western businesses.

thank you, Rick, it's now my understanding I'm on my own, so I'm going to address
  • intentionally shooting people by Police #1597 and
  • wrecking a ship with detainees on board #1599
myself

stay tuned
as announced:
saw your post in the morning, but wanted to hear from the Mod first, which by now I have, so:
inside #1597
there's the following claim:

while in Central Europe any use of firearms by Police is quickly reported by media including warning shots (rarely happens), and is debated at length if caused death (exceptional);
plus I've visited
  1. the place in Brno where in 1969 (then Czechoslovakia) during

two people were shot dead by local Police (not by the Soviets -- they killed some more one year before)
  2. Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!
  3. Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!
where there're hundreds of names of people who were shot dead in 1989
(I now couldn't find the pictures I had taken there, but I assure you the monument they have there is very sad even by standards of those, like me,
who have been to a number of military museums)
this is why I found #1597 claim totally unacceptable, but it may a cultural thing and for you guys, Internet warriors from posh neighborhoods in America, it's OK to talk "a couple of shots to the knee caps" in Hong Kong

the chain of your imaginary events as you described them in
#1599

suggesting "cage them up" ("them" = imaginary detainees) and "Chinese captain and crew can bail on a speedboat" would create a phantom ship that could run aground or collide!

at first I thought you had meant #1599 as a hyperbole, but you stick to it, Internet warrior

and now I add this: disgusting suggestions like shooting people or living them on a ship should be moderated, or the SDF will turn into a cesspool
... China

cheers

Those are just communication mediums that are also expendable and replaceable, any shutdown would only be a temporary disruption. It has to be accompanied by arrest, prosecution, and imprisonment of the people associated with those organizations of inciting riots, slander, conspiracy, etc. If more intelligence can be gleaned by letting them continue to operate then that might be preferable.

There are specific organizations and people instigating and sustaining the rioting, including religious ones, who should be handled appropriately same as the online and media conspirators above, but I think labeling of general religious movements would be counterproductive.

The anti-mask law is pretty weak, there are reasonable exemptions such as for medical reasons but also very lax qualifiers such as >30/>50 people when rallying/marching etc. It should be more like groups >5 people and anyone who is masked when committing other offenses gets additional punishment. There doesn't appear to be a minimum but the max punishment is 1yr prison time and $25000HKD fine.

I think chipping them, housing them in hotels or in China are all more trouble than it's worth. Certainly they need to be liberated from brainwashing and pay for the damage to public and private property, so re-education and labor would be appropriate.

The religious (particularly the christian oned) organsation provided santuary and all sundries and support like place to change, water and provisions to rioters.

Shame on you! It is little wonder China won't allow christian faith to get hold in China!

Shame on me? I'm confused.

So when the reporter reported that the "protestors" includes children! She obviously missed out the part that the "children" were in full combact gear, with illegal facemask to boot!

And let's not kid ourselves, these children can kill as much (if not better, because of their "innocent") as an adult!

Suggesting the use of firearms against violent individuals when the situation on the ground has already involved individuals deliberately chasing down police and assaulting them with hammers, metal rods and molotov cocktails is not beyond reproach, though I would be happy to confer with my fellow moderators if any of them feel like it breaks forum rules.

Actually an acid burn injury is much worse than a fire burn injury since the former stays on the body to cause serious injury while the latter could be much briefer when the victim is able to get away from the fire.

The only thing is these people won't be this revealing if they intend on committing crimes.

Those who commit crimes cover up their whole body including all their limbs.

Yes, I know. But as I said, it is less dramatic! As in news worthy!

That's sickening to watch. Hope he survived it.

Those blackclads with face masks on are nothing but lowest of the lowly thugs. They were literally trampling on a HK citizen's rights to life, liberty and freedom that they themselves allegedly aim for. Simply unacceptable criminal violence. So much evidence of senseless violence in Hong Kong, but not a single peep from MSM about this.

Yes, sorry to put guys through this. But it is with this types of revelation that we learned and that we know the MSM and those behind the MSM is lying through its teeth!

Certainly shame on the reporters for their own misrepresentation of the facts, however don't forget to blame the editors, higher level management dictating the guidelines as well. Not to mention the channel, network, and production company. What channel and program was that?

Yes Agree, and we could go all the way to the top, but becareful we could be accused of political and get this thread closed!

As long as we know, that's ok.

If it is just for the comfort and familiarity of the Western business, then it just needs to copy the Singapore model by forming the HK International Commercial Court. From my POV, It is all under the umbrella of small government and capitalism. The HK government thinks the appearance of judicial independent and the rules of law is so important that it is willing to give up any direct rights to appoint the judges. Same things with education, medical, the justice department, the media etc. The HK government doesn't get involved in many important decision making or regulations.

No he's not; why would you say that someone is better than the actions that he has initiated and repeatedly doubled-down on despite multiple moderator rejection? He's blinded by his own history and can't even understand that murderous criminals need to be shot. Let's see his answer to this from my last post before you judge that he's "better" than anything:

"If you found (the shooting of a criminal attacking the police with a steel pipe) unacceptable, then by your standards, how should the police react when a man throws molotovs at them and attacks them with steel clubs? If trying to kill a police officer is not enough, then what does someone have to do in your country to be shot?"

Manqiang, man I love you man. So i don't mean to fallen out with you. I just wanted him to stop, and divert Mod's attention, and possibly get this thread shut!

So by saying what I said, I was hoping to defuse the situation, thats all, Manqiang.
I wont interfer again. Sorry.
