Looks like the Muad'Dib aka, the Annointed One, the Messiah, Barack Obama, has won the election.

My congratulations for the people of the United States---at least those who choose to vote via reason and issues, not because of the color of the skin, or how funny his name sounds, or what his religion is or whoever he associates in his neighborhood. For the rest of world, this is a great demonstration and celebration of democracy.

My salutations for the one who lost the election for fighting to the end and being gracious in defeat.

So can we say the incompetence of Bush was in hindsight necessary for this great moment in history to come to fruition? Maybe we shouldn't judge him too harshly after all.

Say a lot of bad things about Bush, what he isn't is a racist. After all, he is responsible for choosing the not just the first, but also the second African-American to be Secretary of State, which is the third highest position and in line of succession after President and Vice President.

heard from chinese news that obama is quite an anti-chinese person, he says equal living for african american, but never mentions anything for europeans or asians. and didn't he say that if he was elected he would cut off trade with china, to go more domestic. if so good luck america, in the end its the lower waged americans that suffer from this decision. but hope he makes good decisions. bush may have been well not such a respected president, but he as crobato said not racist and gave fair go for all races not just his own.

I wouldn't worry too much about Obama's position on China, american presidents since Nixon all took the president post while criticising China harshly in someway, but ended up as more or less China friendly when they left the post as US president. Geopolitical power and balance determines everything, as of today, US and China's fate are hooked.

WhenBush senior took the post it was 1989 Tiananmeng square protest and sanctions, Clinton took the post it was 1996 taiwan crisis USN fleet gathering, when Bush took the post it was Belgrade embassy bombing, Spy Plane incident and the Stratigic Competitor declaration etc.

First off I must post this. I'm a very conservative political person. I did not vote for Mr Obama. I felt he was not qualified to be President of the US. He lacks experience in so many areas. On the Republican side I also do not feel Mrs Sarah Palin was qualified to be Vice president. Let alone president. Basically for the same reasons. I did however vote for Sen. John McCain.

That being stated...

As a 55 year old black man living in the US my entire lfe minus military committments I thought for many years I would not live to see the day a black man would be elected President of the United States.

When I was a kid growing up in bigoted Cincinnati back in the 50s and 60s we as blacks could not eat where we wanted, stay in a decent hotel, gain the type employment we desired, live anywhere but certain sections of any city.. etc etc. My my how things have changed.

I wish Mr Obama well in all his endeavors as President. May he make the correct decisions in all reguards for the USA. And may Gods blessing be with Mr Obama.

Anti-China rhetoric is par for the course in American politcs. This election cycle however was abnormal since there was far less anti-China rhetoric than before. The reason maybe that neither McCain or Obama had any China connections for one to use against the other. Just like every other President they find out they cannot force China into anything without affecting the US in an adverse way.

I don't really get how a significant number of Asians living outside their ancestral homelands seem to have this liking for McCain. You see all your ancestral homelands basically happy with Obama winning but not the ones that have immigrated or are citizens of another country especially Western ones. I didn't like McCain from the beginning no matter how many people from non-GOP parties and moderates said they liked him before. Why? Because the guy obvious has a paranoia with Asians in general. He publicly declared that he has the right to use the slur "gook" anytime he wishes simply because of his experience in Vietnam. He only said it was wrong until after the media pounced on him for it. And don't bother believing that term is only referring to Vietnamese. Not in the US. The only way an Asian can get on the good side of McCain is if you hate another Asian that McCain has a bigger paranoia for. Oh yeah there's Asians that only see Americans as their personal army to use against countries they have nationalistic rivalries and McCain's most likely to serve up American soldiers for them. But other than that...
