The War in the Ukraine

one of those rare gems that bbc puts out, amongst a sea of garbage it typically produces. i would imagine that if russia has invested so much time into building the lines that they are sufficiently mined, though i could be underestimating the incompetence of some of its officers.

just looking at the general layout it seem that russia's game plan in case of a landing across the dnipro could be just trading time for space. let the attacking ukrainian forces fight through the defensive positions along main supply routes until a mobile force can be deployed to face them. the main defensive line is clearly going to be zaporozhia.

i am thinking now if ukraine is doing more incursions into russia, perhaps they can contemplate an attack northward from khakov into russia, possiblt occupying belgorod. surely they will have no problem breaking through the lines there. and with the bulk of russian forces down south they would be able to occupy a lot of russian land before meeting any kind of resistance. the widely expected course of action to attack in zaporozhia just seems too difficult, would be very bloody if they try it.
Occupy Belgorod???

Belgorod is a city of 300k people located 60 km from the border on a river overlooking a valley. If they couldn't hold Bakhmut which is inside Ukraine and has a population of 70k how are they going to get to Belgorod?

Not a real occupation but as long as the "threat" is there in the western media then the support for the Ukraine continues.

This is all over the news and social media, and it's been spun up as a full invasion of Russia by Russian traitors. People are convinced Russia is on its last legs and about to collapse any day now, and open to looting.

This, just "a little more aid" is all that's needed.

That was why Ukraine used wheeled vehicles. So it is easier to escape Russian defenders. Wheeled vehicles are faster than tracked ones.
Anyway, if they haven't all been caught yet, it is only a matter of time.

Western media now IDing some of the group members as being Russian Nazis:
Colborne identified another member of the Russian Volunteer Corps in photographs posted by the group during its Belgorod operation as Russian Aleksandr Skachkov, a rightwing extremist. Skachkov was arrested in Ukraine in 2020 during a raid on people selling translations of the manifesto of the gunman behind the 2019 mass shooting in Christchurch, New Zealand, according to Bellingcat.
It looks like they are being disowned given how their true core are being reported.

So basically they drive around and filmed some video clips like some kind of influencer?

Some of them got killed for it? (Like stupid influencers? Russia Challenge! How far can you get into Russia in opposition gear before getting blown away?)

Really I do not see any point other than extremely short term embarrassment...

They are gaining a lot of attention doing that... we will see what they will find after Avdiivka or Kupiansk.
