The War in the Ukraine

Last night, I watched War Dogs. Very apt movie for our times and what is going on with current war.

NATO / USA siphoned every single drip of soviet era ammunition / equipment all around the world + use their own stock now asking countries like S. Korea, Turkey, Pakistan etc to produce more ammunition for their war effort:

What Russia was able to do is mind boggling. Mad fight against a willing opponent supported by whole western world and their arm dealers.

It's pretty strange that it was only a few weeks ago Wagner were complaining about Bakhmut, claiming the Ukrainians were being successful in their counter attack. Then all of a sudden we hear nothing and Russians have taken over the town without much drama.

I think it was a maskirovka to try and get the Ukrainians to commit more troops to the meatgrinder the Russians had set up. The Ukrainians had been doing this for months, but it looks like they finally listened to their western advisors and withdrew from the town.

No PR for them, unlike the T-14s(which as of yet got more than they deserve). Whole Russian air production started growing remarkably silent after summer 2022.
Tbf t-14 fanfare even in this thread itself was bizzare to begin with. It's a tank, with a cannon. It's no wunderwaffe and certainty not invincible, at least stealth fighters will have a much more measurable impact on the conflict by actually performing strike missions without getting shot out of the sky the moment it enters Ukranian airspace by GBAD.

Are su-57s actually used much at all in Ukraine? Reports about them have been sporadic at best.
Well, it's an invisible plane and since no one can see it, no one knows if it's being used XD

But yes, in general it does seem to be in use, the latest news is a few days ago, it was said that a Su-57 shot down a Su-24 with Storm Shadow missiles.
MilitaryWatchMagazine is pure BS and "Russia will have a full regiment of Su-57s ready" is claimed since years and still nothing happened! And even if, I don't think this will in any way change the outcome of this war.
A regiment can be 2 squadrons or more.
A squadron being from 12 to 24 aircraft.
For example the 3rd Guards Composite Aviation Regiment is equipped with two squadrons of Su-27M3s, and this is one of the squadrons that is receiving the Felon as far as we know.

Bearing in mind that by the end of 2022 the number of serial Su-57s was 12, depending on production in 2023 it is quite feasible to have an entire regiment operational (it remains to be seen whether the aircraft are being distributed to different units or concentrated in one).
As for production in 2023, the original 2019 plan was for 7 aircraft, it is likely that with the increase in defence spending this has gone up, as has the T-90M and everything.

In general, an air regiment is practically certain to be operational by the first quarter of 2024.

I suspect by now they're awaiting that offensive, in reserves - if you don't see imperial guards Moscow divisions on the 9th of May in Moscow - they should be elsewhere, shouldn't they?
Su-57s, on the other hand, are known to participate in the conflict. As for how much - well, let's wait for them to say more.

I doubt that T-14s are ready to be produced, what would be the point of putting yet another system to maintain that is so different from what is used in the war? One Excalibur guided munition and that's it ...

The T-90M is generally sufficient and well adapted to the existing logistics, a patent was filed 1 or 2 months ago to adapt the Afghanit APS system to the T-90M, that is the best option.
The year before the war 68 T-90M were produced, that's a pretty good number, who knows what the actual production is, I don't see the point of putting in the T-14.
I think the T-15 would be much more interesting to provide support and safe transport for the troops, although this would also mean introducing the T-16 so that it could be towed.

The most interesting change will be the introduction of new artillery that is entering production this month such as the Malva and at the end of the year the Boomerang.
