Interesting report on ZTD-05's 105mm Thermobaric round.

This is the first time I heard about gun-fired thermobaric round.

That will definitely make the ZTD-05 a much more capable fire support platform than it already is. Direct fire of thermobaric munitions will allow the vehicle to clear out any infantry in solid cover on the beaches and in urban terrain, and the infantry won’t have to go through a call-for-fire process to get the firepower they need.

Some images from the opening ceremony of the "Friendship Shield-2023" joint exercise between China and Laos.

They don't seem to he carrying plates. Neither do they have optics. Those two are the main force multipliers for modern infantry. I would rather have them equipped with the Laotian gear if that meant having plates and optics.

Just asking them to stand there for the opening ceremony is already probably annoying for them, to ask them to do that in full gear would be too wasteful.

They are already in full gear, why not add the plates if they have them? I do not get how is that wasteful. In any case they should get used to having plates equipped.

I think someone said one time that "it destroys the spirit of the soldier" can't remember where or who said it. Which is true, kit a soldier out too much and it can be a morale drainer, it can be favorable to be without and have the added flexibility and morale boost. And where it's suitable add armor plates, plus when conducting "friendship exercises" you want to be on your best spirits.

Because it is dependent on the training requirements. Since this is just a joint exercise to essentially train Laotian troops and enhance the relationship between the two nations’ militaries, there is no need to carry a combat load. Combat loads are heavy and can wear down a soldier’s knees to the point of long lasting knee injuries. There is a reason why every US infantry vet jokes about the VA and knee injuries. Plus, US troops don’t train with plates 24/7. They only do so in select exercises. As for scopes, if you have been following the infantry equipment thread at all, you know that the scopes are slowly but surely getting distributed. Given your post history, you should really etch this into your memory because you brought this so many times to the point in which I think you are just trolling.

That was said by a general back in the early 2000’s. He said that body armor reduces the fighting spirit of a soldier when that is just an asinine statement if you just talk to veterans from Iraq, Afghanistan and now Ukraine. There is a reason why the Russians (and most likely the Ukrainians) are buying body armor en masse. War isn’t fun and games. It’s a matter of life and death. All of this equipment is designed to make sure the soldier can have all of the necessary choices to survive and go back home.

I was just pointing out it made more sense to procure scopes before a new kit, as scopes are a bigger force multiplier. Seems logical to me.
Also, since when is expressing your opinion called trolling in a forum?

Because you repeatedly brought similar topics like these posts up:
Now the only things missing are the plates, new rifle and gloves.

Where are the optics?

When can we expect the PLA soldier to be equipped to NATO standards or more?

I wish the average PLA trooper would be equipped like this.
All of which assume that the Chinese aren't mass-fielding their infantry with scopes, plate carriers, and plates. And they definitely are based on the pictures and interviews released out to the public. It has been repeatedly addressed to the point it's becoming tiresome.
