Wondering why China's authoritarian and totalitarian diplomacy works so well in the Middle East?
This is why I always make fun of Iranian liberal dissidents. They are extremely pro-West (to the point of being racist to non-Westerners, sounds familiar?) and they want to return the shah. And they think all of the other people who are against the Islamic government are like them. Which is almost tragicomical because they are actually a tiny minority. Other dissidents have nothing in common with them with the exception of their anti-theocracy position.

Surely Mosaddegh would be a more suitable role model for "liberal dissidents"?

Don't try to reason with them. I saw one who was claiming Iran would be as developed as Japan if the Islamic revolution didn't happen. Last year I also saw ones who were claiming that they will take down the Islamic government and confiscate assets of dictatorships in Iran. (read: Russian and Chinese. A good chunk of them believe Russia and China are torturing Iranians by keeping the Islamic govt in power). The funniest thing is they think they are the majority. They are exceedingly dumb people.

They ejected two black state reps in Tennessee for protesting against guj violence.

"The two young Black lawmakers were ejected, but the third lawmaker involved, Ms. Johnson, a white Democrat from Knoxville, avoided the same fate by a single vote."

Lol

For all the hate and lies the US spews about china being undemocratic and authoritarian, it seems so befitting that they are the pure embodiment of authoritarianism through the guise of voting and democracy. Also Republicans hold such a tight grip over the state cause of gerrymandering. They can never lose.
This can be looked at two ways:
1) That Tennessee represents the racist white supremacist oligarchy of the United States.
2) That young black politicians love to LARP as 1970s civil rights crusaders to elicit boomer nostalgia.

Neither of which are conducive to social cohesion of the United States, and as the US declines, it becomes a fight between factions for more “gibs” be it federal funding, safe And secure jobs, placements in universities etc. It should be noted that Obama by being a good servant to the Clinton’s and powerbrokers in the US elite, pried open the door to power for his people could get in, answerable to him and his ilk. That’s why you’ll get blacks in high offices in USG but no material change to the well-being of black laity.

What sort of liberalism wants to restore an hereditary monarchy? Surely Mosaddegh would be a more suitable role model for "liberal dissidents"?
You’ll find that a lot of the Overseas Chinese communities are stuck in time because of the disconnect between the community and China proper. It’s a phenomenon seen in other expatriate communities as well. These Iranians probably still have values consistent with 1970s Iran when their parents and families fled Iran. When they go back to Iran or China in the case of these overseas Chinese, the Iranians and Chinese who stayed will remark at how conservative and out of date a lot of their mannerisms and ways of thinking are.

It’s not necessarily bad, it’s simply a feature of an expatriate group needing to reassert cultural identity in a different society, land and environment. You see this even in Australia where Anglo Australians have this idealised view of britain which resembles 1940s ChurchillIan England or 1990s tony blair UK and who try to mould Australia to fit that antipodean Ideal and achieving that by being inherently anti Chinese out of a fear of losing their British-ness.

Reminder that a couple of years ago, the MSS published warnings to Chinese to beware of American spies and spy infiltration methods, and the western press guffawed at this seeming ludicrousness. Seems there was a reason to be concerned after all, the five eyes are having trouble with HUMINT.

Well, if you believe in the Climate Change movement, a significant portion of Florida would be underwater. How's that for a slow death? The banning of DJI drones because of security concerns is just an excuse for protectionism as they're trying to develop their own brand of drones. Or, maybe DeSantis is upset that he and his followers won't get their "Rapture" they had hoped for and need to lash out against China for attempting to bring peace to the Middle East.

Not much of deterrent as most people can't even see it. :)
Before the sinking of Pompey, the weather conditions has been reported to be in a similar vein to what is happening now. Before I used to believe in climate change and perhaps their is some influence but really if it was such a danger, why does the west continue to try and profit and take advantage of such a situation to benefit themselves along with using this to bash down other nations for wanting to use what they have to live. I am included to believe that the world has more then enough supplies to last the world for a while until science eventually enables mankind to be able to journey to the stars but this can only happen if the west destroys itself in the coming years because as of now, the USA has no intent on sharing the future with the world and it continually showing themselves as a bunch of tyrants with no interest in protecting humanity as opposed to the hogging all the assets. I am not inclined to believe in The whole EROREI business because in every single crisis, such as Atlantis (which may or may not have happened) and Pompey and any other situation where one empire tries to dominate while sinking deeper and deeper into depravity, something inevitably comes to balance the scales…. ie the USA has had its run as a super power… the curtain is set to fall upon the nation and eventually the real adults in the world will set the world straight (China, Russia, amount others) although this will ultimately happen at the expense of the collective west who have lost any right to deciding the future of humanity a long time ago (not that they ever deserved it in the first place). And good riddance on the day that this happens.

I will not put too much stock on the poll not even trust iranian responses. if today real US embassy opens in Tehran it will be a flood. not the few thousands that goes through indirect way. they may disagree with US government policies but Iranians are the Beverly hills, La Jolla and Hollywood. They are more western than westerners. even the vehicles are copies of european.
Iran will continue to send almost all of its international students in Western direction. thousands of Iranian reside in UAE. do you think UAE does not have intelligence on what they think?
