The Chinese American experience:

25 years ago: "You are the weak man of Asia LMAO USA USA USA"
Today: OMG, you are about to overtake us and create a new world

2000-2018 were the twilight years for Asian Americans. More asians would come to the US and asian stores/restaurants florished in many community.

China should set up a special administration buisness/invention zone for returning people of Chinese or Asian heritage. The reality is that many of them will have broken Chinese and would need a generation to integrate back in (and to drop any western poltical ideals). Toss them in one of the "ghost cities" and see how it works out. Do it like the McBNO, must have x minimum in assets etc.

I think this plan may slow the birthrate decline and also bring in capital.

None of Indian clones of TikTok have gained traction after the ban. Most Indians just move to other American platforms but none of the US apps replicated and replaced TikTok in anyway and form. There are still tens of millions Indians using TikTok but it is just a faction of people before the ban. Since India is not a profitable market for TikTok that is not a big deal.

Of course, the US market is different. US market is very profitable and important to TikTok. However, TikTok could still survive with the ban. After the ban, TikTok would be difficult to monetize and give out incentives so it is unlikely to sustain any big presence in the US. Many Americans that rely upon TikTok could lose most of their incomes as other platforms are just not so interesting and profitable.

Yeah, like it or not, bans work against social media platforms.

The top platforms in India are now pretty much entirely Western - no wonder the West calls India its "close ally" today. Although, ironically since the Indians have flooded these platforms with "Russia strong" narratives, it's been counter to the West's efforts in Ukraine.

But this is also why social media platform success isn't that significant - it's easy to ban and replace. What matters are hard technology items that require decades of infrastructure to build. This is what the Chinese government has designated critical technologies and why they've channeled funding away from internet companies and into hard technology.
I think this is a very interesting idea. Ever since the ban of Tiktok you would expect Indians to be more western leaning because western media now have the monopoly of their mind. However this goes both ways. Indian's pro-Russian view will clash/assimilate the western minds within their society. Although western media's power expanded there will be deep inner issues between these incompatible views. There will be dissents in their own country against support to Ukraine. Has western media chew more than it can digest?

She knows how to connect with gen Z and knows that banning Tik Tok would be a massive blow to internal stability. I'm not sure why other politicians don't see that.
Imagine having an Intifadah over TikTok...

Seriously though, normal people would probably just flood to some other platform instead. If Roe v Wade didn't make people John Brown the red states, what makes you think TikTok will?
