Looks like Trump's faction is reading the auguries and determining that the American ppl dont give a rat's arse about the outside world and want improvements domestically, NOW:

I skipped around the clown show, but he had plenty of China-stole your jobs, China-Flu, we are funding China's military via imports etc. The whole thing was basically him telling story of a really dark depressing view of America and only he can save the country. Similar pledge he did the first time around but the audience forgot he was president for 4 years and non of his policies really worked.

She knows how to connect with gen Z and knows that banning Tik Tok would be a massive blow to internal stability. I'm not sure why other politicians don't see that.

America is a "democracy" but the system is rigged on the national level. Boomers and people living in fly-over-country are the majority power. When someone screams "national security" or finds a foreign "rival", mass "FREE" media sticks to national propaganda and the US politicians 95% becomes an authoritarian/one party system (even though many americans oppose the policies). Americans get no choice, they get to vote for bad or for worst.

It would lead to people using VPNs to access it and mass quitting Meta. More people are affected by a TikTok ban (150 million) than Roe v Wade (only affects women of reproductive age in red states who do not want children).

The US will use all types of financial attacks against TikTok. TikTOk would not want these people if they will just be losing money. I think the days of people spending mass amount of time on Meta are over, but i don't think people will completly quit. People will likely migrate to youtube shorts or the US will make a tiktok clone lol.

If it came down to it, i rather tiktok leave rather than the US going full authoritarian trying to block dns which may result in having to use vpn to access douyin/wechat/little red book etc

No TikTok shouldn't leave by its own. It should be forced by the US to leave.

The new Cold War is about China winning off the Global South. Expose the US hypocrisy to the whole world. People may think that this is irrelevant but in fact the US has suffered enormous reputational damage in the past 5 and 20 years. Keep baiting the US to self-sabotage.

The simple truth is American apps failed to be innovated a long time ago. Monopoly and first mover advantages have made these US companies too conceited. If not for the US government helping hammered out rivals, these companies would have fallen off the cliffs many years ago. But such actions also killed US's own unicorns.

Four of the five hottest apps in the U.S. in March were forged in China. Algorithms are often cited as their secret sauce. An often overlooked facet is how cutthroat competition for users at home has given Chinese firms a leg up over Western rivals.

Much like during China’s rise to manufacturing dominance a few decades ago, Chinese tech companies have harnessed a labor pool of affordable talent to constantly fine-tune product features.

When i say leave, TikTok should leave once the US officially bans it. They can fight it in a legal manner but It should'nt encourage any loopholes or backways for Americans to access it.
