Now people can understand why the semiconductor manufacturing industry moved to East Asia.
The paranoia geopolitical mindset of US politicians is making this kind of invesment in the US quite unpalatable to the point that is probably easier with less strings attached to built fabs in Europe than in the US and that says a lot.

The article mentions a few of those terms.

Turns out they aren’t just interest in their trade secrets. They also want all their information on the companies executives.

Asking firms to submit information about their management and technology could expose them to business risks, the official, Lee Chang-yang, said Monday.

On the trade secret side, they are demanding information on projected profits, production capacity, and technology.

Companies are concerned about requirements to turn over information about profit projections and factory production because they are considered carefully guarded trade secrets, said Mr. Kim.

And finally, the political demands.

The demand that companies offer child care for employees, together with rising interest rates and inflation, would drive up the already high cost of investing in the U.S., he said.

I guess this also opens the door for any UOS cloud/server computers to also use MT GPUs. They talked about AI, cloud desktop
If even Bloomberg said that Japan is delaying the implementation of any chip exports restriction to China, you know the talk doesn't go well. Unlike Dutch whcih ASML is in much stronger position and can afford to make some restrictions, Japanese is in much weaker position and doesn't want its chip businesses to tank and nosedive.

you might want to read the earlier bloomberg article I posted on Dutch. They are still taking their time and deciding what they can restrict and it will just require ASML to applied for license. And they are trying to do it in a way to not single out China. I assume they want to do it within the framework of the current wassenaar arrangement. We will see, but so far, the Dutch & Japanese are doing the bare minimum to get out of American wrath.

Loongson announces that its 3C5000L server CPU has landed with 2 financial companies cloud server and they are also using 3A5000 desktops to access the servers. small steps imo, but hopefully this will lead to wider adaption of LoongArch products in China. Especially now that Inspur and Huawei are both losing access to American CPUs.
