Beijing announced the key project plan for 2023, and projects such as SMIC North and North Huachuang are listed

Judging from the list, it includes BOE’s 6th generation new semiconductor display device production line project, Tianke Heda Industrialization Base Construction (Phase II) project, SMIC North’s 12-inch integrated circuit production line (Phase II), and North Huachuang’s semiconductor equipment research and development And industrial expansion projects, Tyco Tianrun headquarters and production plant projects, etc.

This is a good point you just brought. People think China is under extreme pressure, but the truth is the pressure could be 100 times bigger. In addition to applying sanctions and pressures on companies, like what you mentioned, US could also pressure companies with sanctions if they put Chinese chips into their products, essentially cutting off alot of potential market for Chinese made semiconductors. Chinese chips could be only used by Chinese brands and only in China and other poorer countries that does not ban Chinese products in the future. If things like Tiktok, Cranes, subway train cars could be accused as spy tools and potentially banned (train cars already banned), then you can imagine they will pretty much ban anything that has Chinese chips in the future.

China needs to plan the worst case scenario which is total ban and sanctions on all transactions and trade with China by US and its loyal allies. China needs to basically grow without trade and connection with 50% of world nominal GDP that is currently held by the west.
thats war then you cannot do that to a modern country it would amount to a blockade

EUV prototype developed by Chang Guang, It came out in 2006
but it's a weak light source... now... China just needs to replace those parts with stronger ones... i guess it won't take too long... especially EUV photoresist is being fast development in China, they need at least 1-1.6 years...and not just 1 but 3 companies have the ability to develop it

late 2024- mid 2025... there will be big news about it
There is a big difference between a tech demonstrator and a prototype of a commercial design. A commercial design would be practical to use in a fab environment and offer advantages over DUVi. Commercialization took 11 years after the first chips were produced using EUV. As I said. I will be happy if China manages to have a prototype delivered to a customer in 2027 for further development.

Now people can understand why the semiconductor manufacturing industry moved to East Asia.
The paranoia geopolitical mindset of US politicians is making this kind of invesment in the US quite unpalatable to the point that is probably easier with less strings attached to built fabs in Europe than in the US and that says a lot.

Bro I dunno. Imagine being a chipmaker, and having to choose between US subsidies and investing in China The US literally ruining the industry to marginally slow down the Chinese economy.

Other semi companies to think about
RA Chem (彤程新材)

so they are building a industrial zone in Shanghai that will produce 11000t of semiconductor and flat screen display photoresist and 20000t of associated part. They also have an ASML lithography machine to test out their product

They started mass producing KRF photoresist for SMIC in 2021 and supply 5% of SMIC supplies. They were looking to construct a ARF high end R&D platform by the end of this year. I don't know why they are so fast with KRF, but so slow with Arfi photoresist. Looks like they got into KRF pretty early, but will be one of the later ones into Arfi.

One things that's kind of good to see is just how many companies have gotten into this. I'm a little surprised Sinopec hasn't gotten involved here given how prominent they are in China's chemical industry. Given the # of Japanese suppliers, it's good for competition for there to be several Chinese ones also.

Jiangsu Yoke Technology (雅克科技) - have clients CXMT, YMTC, Samsung, Intel, TSMC & SMIC
Looks like they do cleaning solution after polishing & post etching cleaning solution.

Dinglong Chemical(鼎龙股份) - makes CMP polishing pad for YMTC, CXMT, SMIC & Huahong. Also doing cleaning liquid & polishing fluid

Huate Gas (华特气体) - Create various IC gases for YMTC, SMIC, CR Micro and others. I think they were qualified for ASML a while back

Jinhong Gas (金宏气体) - develops ultra pure ammonia & high purity Nitrous Oxide.

If even Bloomberg said that Japan is delaying the implementation of any chip exports restriction to China, you know the talk doesn't go well. Unlike Dutch whcih ASML is in much stronger position and can afford to make some restrictions, Japanese is in much weaker position and doesn't want its chip businesses to tank and nosedive.

115 software product have been added to Loongson 5000 series platform in February. Not surprisingly, most of them have been for 3C5000. It makes more sense to be developing specific programs for server CPUs, since consumer side software can just use translation programs. One interesting vendor in there is Tencent Cloud, indicating that Tencent might be using 3C5000 in their cloud servers.
