Mishap with UAV during ground test

I recall in recent days there's also a Sky Sword II complex that had to be returned to NCSIST because it just straight up didn't work with very basic issues like command vehicle refusing to talk to the missile carrier.

Us mainlanders like to make fun of NCSIST for being incompetent but what is the actual issue here? Are they being spread too thin, both in terms of number of projects they're taking on as well as having to do both R&D plus manufacturing? NCSIST have always seemed me as mostly R&D orientated, ala DRDO and when they are tasked with building things for the military they do it in an artisanal way instead of large scale MIC manufacturing. Is that impression correct?
They couldn’t even get an MQ-9 knockoff to work? Wow.

I think they do things well enough given the resources they have. Granted, China is not actively bombing them to keep them down, but their inventiveness is a match or even overmatch for any major armed actor.

Able to make missiles despite seemingly having shaky supply chains for it is still better than having nothing at all. They've also made very rudimentary aircraft.

There are some out there whose only inventions consist of putting rocket tubes on Toyotas...

What they need is a policy that is tipped heavily favoring domestic design/innovation/production, instead of buying stuff wholesale from the US, especially when they already know how fickle such a supply line that is.

And they should implement such policy decades ago. Given a certain Democrat slipped his tongue...
...we're now looking at a deadline fast approaching.

unveiling “the unknown truths of Taiwan” starting on Tuesday (Feb. 28), the Nikkei alleged in an article that up to 90% of retired Taiwanese military officials provide intelligence to China for profit.

The article said that top positions in the Taiwan defense ministry have long been held by “Chinese mainlanders,” referring to those migrating to Taiwan after 1945. An army led by such personnel could not possibly be able to fend off Chinese invaders, it said, citing unspecified military sources.

I get that there are spies, but surely 90% is bullshit?
What's Japan's aim here in pushing this news?

And those are the guys neocons are counting on to last two weeks of PLA siege...

P.S. I just realized that the Jai Hinds are sort of right about Chinese soldiers being spoiled children... Only problem is that they'll never seen this kind of Chinese soldier.

But still, I don't get why some armies try to penny pinch like this. It's bad for morale and surely it can't save that much money compared to a passable standard of food. Even Russian army food while not having that much variety at least ensures plenty of meat and potatoes.

Yes I'm looking at you South Korea.
