China's SCS Strategy Thread

It seems that this now ex National Security Advisor was and is instrumental in having Japan joining the Philippines in joint patrol in their West Philippine Sea. She's animated on this show and seems convinced to challenge China by invoking America to join them in challenging their issues in SCS.

She's dismissive of the advisors surrounding the current President that she labelled as "AMBOYS" which is a term for American Boys, meaning to say that these advisors most of whom have served in the military are nothing but an extension and puppets of American interests. She's beseeching the PResident to have civilians provide him with another set of advice and not just solely rely from military only advice.

I don't really know what would be the right course of action for China in dealing with the Philippine case since there's clearly an element here that do not want part of the looming conflict between the two "hegemon" as Dr. Carlos puts it. She does not want a war at her country's doorstep for obvious reasons but then is sort of dismissive and unrealistic with respect to the prospect of PHilippines getting or pushing their products to places like Turkey as one of the replacement markets for China so that her country does not become too dependent and therefore beholden to China's so-called belligerent actions against her country.

What is your take on this situation and her assessment @ansy1968 @PhSt and other Filipino-Chinese or anyone in general regarding this very thorny issues that clearly evokes strong passionate response from the Filipinos.

Here is a my take bro, Madam Carlos is a media CREATURE and a political animal, her job is to advise the President not to to gain attention on her by speaking directedly to media, under cutting her boss on foreign policy and she is full of herself and boastful she think she is the Asian version of Madeline Albright, the reason for her sacking. That is the problem with Marcos, like Trump he doesn't have the knowledge and foresight to choose the right people for the job because he is clueless, he doesn't have a national strategy for the country, his mission is to clear his family name by being nice and accepting recommendation from his backers to high position as a reward for his massive victory, a REAL TRAPO. Just look at Rodriguez his former Executive Secretary, three months on the job and he was fired. One of many mistake and blunders, you may also include the controversy of appointing a new Chief of Staff of the AFP, the shortage of onion which he appointed himself the position of Agricultural Secretary to address the issue and yet failed miserably. Incompetency is the name of the game in his gov't and we see the end results.

Sounds like the Philippines got themselves a Biden level government without the US institution and financial tools to put out the fires created by said president governments. What was Duterte thinking, maybe Marcos was the least deadly poison compared to say a Leni Robredo.

Bro, It always a problem not only in the Philippine BUT around the world except for China (meritocracy). ;) After the retirement or death of a great statemen the successor usually fall short of expectation...lol We may see it happen in Russia when Putin is gone BUT at least he can prevent that by grooming his replacement. Being a Liberal Oligarchy society, we didn't expect Duterte to win, he is a freak of nature and a breath of fresh air, he perform what he promise to do from his election campaign and that is a major difference from the past. What disappoint me is that Duterte had done all the dirty works, Marcos had an easy job, all he had to do is to continue his work and NOT mess it up. I had NO regret voting for him because he is the lesser evil BUT I didn't expect him to perform this badly just 8 months of his administration.

The American lock on the Philippine elite is very strong. Don't expect much Chinese investment these next 5 years. This time around, BBM was very good at hiding his Amboy leanings

Phillipines was one of the richest countries in SEA in 1950. But they've kept almost the same GDP per capita since that time.

Without Chinese investment or buying they will simply not develop as fast as ASEAN countries which have it. They've already been overtaken by Vietnam.

Bro you're right about the Oligarch loyalty and incompetency is a major criteria the American are looking for....lol It's very ironic, the template for Color Revolution came from EDSA People Power in 1986 when the Marcos family were ousted, the American take inspiration from it and refine it. Their conclusion is that you need a woman to lead the movement, the optics are very powerful especially when a naive plain Housewife is leading the charge. Thus they funded and established NGO's as a way to sow the seed of destabilization with the elite oligarch complicity (they owned most of the radio and TV station) that's how you maintain your hegemony and the American had perfected it, it's cheaper less violent than the British method.
