So recently, the lithium prices have come down. For someone like BYD that produces the batteries itself, it makes it easier to cut prices. Also, CATL has been cutting prices. Beyond that, I think have more of the plant up and running will lower the costs for BYD. So, I think they can still turn good margins even after discounts. I'm not sure about their competition.
I see. This wave of price cutting is direct result of sodium ion battery by CATL. Sodium ion battery caused lithium to drop price, which caused other lithium battery drop price. Does the lower lithium price affect everyone equally? Car maker like BYD who make their own battery benefit more or less compared to others?

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I don't think sodium ion battery has made any impact this far. The lithium price drop could be due to other reasons like less industrial demand and such.

Byd would feel the effects of lithium price drop immediately since it makes its own batteries. Other automakers will have to renegotiate with catl to benefit.

It probably has something to do with the more stringent regulations China is going to impose on the lithium industry.

So BYD's earnings will be a lot higher due to lower battery costs? Has Buffett sold all their byd shares? For retail investors, now is the right time to buy big on byd shares.

John Cadogan is a popular Australian "automotive expert". He recently put up a video about rust observed on BYD Atto 3s:

His conclusion is that there's not necessarily a real issue to be concerned about here, though he recommends that BYD, as a nascent brand seeking to establish a good reputation in Australia, publicly address the details of galvanic protection on the Atto 3 to reassure current and potential customers.

More interesting is the claim he sources in the video that most vehicles produced in China for the domestic market are not galvanized. Is this accurate?

P.S. I saw my first BYD Atto 3s on the streets of Adelaide today. Two of them, about 30 minutes apart.

last week of PV registration from China. The BYD numbers look off compared to Nov/Dec. Probably another slow month of sales in China

Geely getting into trouble. ChangAn is accusing them of plagiarism

Huawei & Chery unveiling new BEV models. This is kind of interesting to see HW just continuing to use its tech/brand to work with automakers and essentially getting them to just manufacturer its cars

More model coming for AITO platform between HW/Seres partnership.
