Protests in front of Tesla stores by Tesla owners after Tesla decided to massively slash the prices of the Tesla EV cars, calling for Tesla to "return" the "overcharged" money which they paid for their own Teslas before the price slash.

Fvcking hilarious.

It's not just weird, but hilarious as well. They sang the Chinese national anthem as a way of saying "We r patriots, we feel mistreated & cheated. We wan our rightz protected! (维权) Government plz help us!"

But eventually, we know that neither Tesla would ever agree to return the money, nor the Chinese government would be likely to intervene. In fact, these "protestors" are just making themselves a joke in front of the rest of China.

Interesting that they discussed Metaverse in cars here.

This is still such a foreign concept outside of China, but it's not that far away from happening in China. Starting off, just think about the amount of network traffic needed to support L4 ADAS and then all the computation power. The broadband network inside the car, all the MPUs and MCUs. People outside of China do not even seem to appreciate just how much work is involved in getting to L4 let alone supporting VR/metaverse on top of that.

Many Chinese buyers perceived Tesla as a premium brand. Lowering the price would destroy that image. More importantly, many Chinese buyers have the tendency to invest too much their emotion into their auto purchases that lowering the price would lower the resale value of such cars which some buyers would feel that they are being cheated.
I read that some Tesla owners reported doing 500,000mls/, have any BYD's done similar mileage because with that sort of performance deserves a premium placed on the brand.

There is a YT video of interview a Shenzhen taxi driver, who bought one of the earlier model of BYD when the city switch all taxi to EV, he got 800,000+ km on the car with no major repairs needed. It’s all in Chinese though.

Unlike gas engines, electric motor last at least half million miles. So the only major repair for EVs is batteries. I won't be surprised that most EVs would last very long if you run up the miles fast enough. However, batteries do both wear out through recharges and time so most batteries wouldn't last 10-15 years.

The lesson here is to buy American!

If those patriots could afford to buy American, then the government should not get involve, and support the bourgeoisie.

Interesting, I got the gist of it. Do you know why the Chinese manufacturers use a different method on how far a car can travel on a full charge than everyone else which then gets recalculated into what is referred to as "real world mileage"?
