Unlike Japan and Korea, Indian population genuinely believes they'd be able to fight Chinese and may actually get involved if shtf in Taiwan with US. Until occupied Arunchal Pradesh is not secured, this shit will go on and US will arm India to the teeth. I think China has been very passive to Superpower2020 so far, lots of restraint being shown.

F-18 is just narrow enough after folding wings to fit on the lift, and Americans suggest they park it at an angle on the lift for a more comfortable fit

Rafale doesn't have folding wings and can't fit at all on the lifts. Dassault suggests they disassemble part of the wings and reassemble on deck to make them fit.

Doesn't surprise me at all. Corruption plays a big role in Indian military procurements, and the French are traditionally more willing to bribe and use dirty tactics to win military contracts than American ones. This is exactly what happened with the original Indian Rafale purchase.

And just like that deal, I expect there to be a decade or so of further Indian price haggling and dithering before any of them actually get delivered. Given how long it takes Indians to make carriers it actually could make sense...

What parts specifically of the wing?

I feel so bad for Boeing. Between 757 Max, reduced F-15X orders, and now this... My stocks will never recover.

Disassemble the aircraft, that's a joke ? Modification can be made on the lift to gain place for the wings, but for the tail if it's hangar height, they are in a giant mess. Would have been better to carry-on with a naval Tejas even if the aircraft would not have been of great value.
