not official from PAF but some inside source from PAF aviation enthusiasts. after first squadron, JF-17B3 will switch to Chinese engines. WS-13E is far better machine than RD-33/RD-93..

JF-17 is already 100 percent Chinese. during inspection Argentina choose Chinese WS-13 engine. and defense ministry confirmed. we have decided to go with Chinese propulsion if we buy this aircraft.

Are you Argentinian or is that second paragraph a quote/paraphrasing of Argentinian representatives part of the tender.

There have been some articles in Spanish writing that, with some English language articles translating it over that the Argentinian JF-17 B3 option would be powered by WS-13s.

For example:

I personally have not found the original sourcing myself (I assume I wouldn't be able to read it anyway), but in this case given Argentina's procurement of systems is relatively open (compared to say the PLA), I don't see a reason to doubt that statement so far.

What the engine eventually ends up being (if Argentina goes ahead with the purchase at all), is another matter.

WS-13 basically twin brother of RD-93. almost same specifications except life hours improved.

WS-13E is totally new variant with combustion chamber redesign and its new name is WS-21. wet thrust is 95-100 kilonewtons. and solid speculation is, J-35 prototype equipped with this new variant WS-13E/WS-21..

If PAF is going to go to the hassle of re-enginging its fleet of JF17s with a chinese engine - why would it not go for the WS-21 ?

It would be pointless to re-engine to a new engine that only gives you the same thrust a a little bit better engine life, in that case - stay where you are interms of engine choices .

I can understand Argentina maybe going for a Chinese engine of WS-13(/E ) but for PAF - given how much it has already invested in infrastructure, training and operational deployment - re-engining has to offer a significant uptick in military capability to move the move worthwhile ..

Myanmar JF-17s are totally grounded.

ummmmmm no? if you read that post it claims that the Myanmar JF-17 grounded is misinformation (he also says it's created by indians) and posts a video appraently newly shot in Myanmar of JF-17 flying in formation to disprove the misinformation. Please double check the source before posting

Siege is being sarcastic and mocking the original bad media claims... but I'm not sure if you are also being sarcastic.

... In general, I think sarcasm should be avoided unless it's made very obvious.

In this case, one would only be able to recognize Siege is being sarcastic by opening up the link, reading the text of the Weibo post and watching the video.
Personally I think that raises the chance of misinterpretation, because not everyone will watch the video or read the Weibo post itself, and could walk away with a false impression.

@siegecrossbow , I think just being clear would help avoid unintentional confusion.

I will add a smirk to future sarcastic posts.

Oh okay, I was actually quite serious when writing this and didn’t realize it was sarcasm, probably because I’ve been seeing people quite this claim too often recently and got a bit paranoid.
