The War in the Ukraine

Really? I mean I suppose it's not meant for us (outside of Russia) but they could at least try a bit harder. It's almost as if they don't care anymore.

The "mother" holding that pic could easily play the role of the dead guy's wife that is how old the guy in the pic looks.
Lmfao maybe there aren't 80 000 deaths then, since it's so hard to find a sob story in the war for recruitment purposes.

But that would require some critical thinking, not the strong suit of American bots.

Pickups and trucks are no match to artillery with high explosive fragmentation. The idea of using technicals is becoming a bad one. Some Ukrainian vehicles here getting smashed by artillery.
And to make my life uncomfortable, the used pickup price increased doublefold, because the NATO sucking up every available vehicle from the market.

I would call that a Pyrrhic victory for Ukraine. They had tens of thousands of casualties in Kherson alone. The Russians took 2/3rds of Kherson's population when they left with them. Plus they smashed the power stations. The 1/3rd of the population left had to leave the city because they cannot heat themselves in the winter. Some victory.

And our source for the losses in on the Kherson front was...?

It's hard to say what the exact numbers are but it clearly was really heavy and was even reported in Washington post. I can tell you that someone I respect ( that would have this type of data) said Ukraine took some serious casualties in the past couple of months. I don't understand why people find it so hard to accept that. Similar to the idea that kherson was always not a holdable position for the Russians after a while and they had to withdraw eventually. Now, we have a situation where kherson is unlivable.

None of this is to say Russians haven't taken their own share of casualties. They clearly have also.

Read the OSCE reports. Ukraine had been ramping up their artillery bombardments of Donbass massively and the Russians had reports they were going to move tens of thousands of troops into the contact line.

This is what I was referring to actually. There was a lot of chatter on Ukrainian military concentrations close to the separatist regions. This was last November/December. If they were given more months to build up and train, the militias would have to chance, thus putting the Russian situation both political and military in a terrible position.

And to make my life uncomfortable, the used pickup price increased doublefold, because the NATO sucking up every available vehicle from the market.

Ukrainian military was actually using a lot of Great Wall Motors pickup trucks officially. There was licenced local production by Bogdan Motors.

I totally believe there have been massive casualties. That terrain sucks for combat unless you can move really quickly. Ukraine lacks the ability to move at fully mechanized rapidity. There are two other militaries I'll avoid naming that could have punched through and taken far, far faster with less casualties.

However, I want to call out just blindly accepting a narrative. There is a wild tendency here to merely accept the Russian sources and disparage anything else. They are not always wrong, but... I trust neither the Russian or the Western sources. I outright disbelieve the official Ukrainian ones.

It continues to be both interesting and disappointing no pro Russian version of Oryx has arisen.

Interesting look into the supply of Canadian armored vehicles to Ukraine. The vehicle is built from a Ford F-550 chassis and 10x increase in production last year. Currently the production rate is 2/day and order can be fulfilled in 1 month. Roshel the company that makes the vehicle said they will produce about 1000 vehicles in 2023(didn't specify the vehicle mix and end users). The segment mentioned the vehicle is also equipped with gunfire locator sensor to identify the direction and ammo type. It's interesting to note the workforce includes Ukrainian refugees.

For the most part this 180,000 manage to destroy the pre war Ukrainian Army NATO spent 8 years in building
Even Russian govt sources claims that 180K invasion force inflicted 100K Ukrainian causalities (60K killed, 40K wounded) amongst 250K total pre-war peacetime Ukraine armed forces. That's less than 40% of the Ukraine armed forces peacetime strength.
That's when Putin decided to mobilize when he realizes it's no longer the Ukrainian Army he is fighting.
Putin decided to mobilize when he saw he was outnumbered 5:1, or 1 million vs. 180K, as an attacking force no less.

Definitivly hasn't got enought, considering that pickups worth pocket changes selling for serious money now.

Anyway, next two weeks will be freezing, means if the Russians wants to do anything then they have to do in the comming weeks
