Not exactly to the level I was hoping, but it is what it is. Let's see how much sooner they can move to local currencies

Outside of this, Bangladesh is allowing overseas payment in CNY and hopefully with greater adoption of CIPS.

Reuters didn’t mention the SCO Bank or the Fund, which I think are key to widespread adoption..

Silk road site explores why Kazakhstan is important to China

Kazakhstan also possesses large amounts of mineral wealth, which are largely undeveloped. The country possesses 30% of the world’s chrome ore reserves, 25% of manganese ore, 10% of iron ore, 5.5% of copper, 10% of lead and 13% of zinc, making the country a vital source of component minerals used in hi-tech metallurgy. Kazakhstan also houses 40% of the world’s uranium, an important resource as emerging countries are looking to nuclear power plants to deliver energy.
This would be it. Aside from being just a central link in transportation to Europe through Caspian sea. They have a lot of the minerals that China needs. This along with Russia and Afghanistan could provide China with the iron, copper and natural gas it needs in the event of a decoupling with the West. Also, with China's growing need for nuclear energy, it's not a bad idea to have the largest source of Uranium next to its borders.

Still quite disappointed to not see anything of concrete on using Yuan in more trading. Seems like they didn't get much for Xi's first trip out of China in 2 years.

Modi was the only leader Xi didn't meet 1on1 during his overseas trip. It's odd that Indian media have been mentioning this potential meeting for a while, even yesterday, most likely Xi rejected Modi, like what happened with the pope.
I'd be very surprised if Xi and Modi didn't meet. There would be no point in India agreeing to nearly all Chinese points 2 days before the SCO summit if he was to then give Xi a cold shoulder. There is every reason for them not to publicise it, as soon a picture of Modi and Xi shaking hands is published the someone will be calling the Indians to complain.

This is India trying to please both sides and losing.

Uzbekistan signs large deals with China, Russia

SAMARKAND, Uzbekistan, Sept 16 (Reuters) - Uzbekistan has signed deals worth $16 billion with China and $4.6 billion with Russia during their respective leaders' visits to the Central Asian nation for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

Deals with China include the construction of a China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, while projects with Russia are in machinery, chemicals, petrochemicals and geology sectors, ministry spokesman Yusuf Kabuljanov said.

Russia and China are major investors in Uzbekistan and the former Soviet republic's key trade partners.
They also lead the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, a regional body which held a meeting this week in the Uzbek Silk Road city of Samarkand.

hmm, I think I saw somewhere the creation of a joint SCO security force or something like that where China will be training/helping Central Asian countries. Can't find it now.

CKU is obviously the big project ongoing here. Allowing direct path to Afghanistan. But again, China talked about defending security interest of the region. Looks like China is filling the Russian vacuum here.

The other interesting news is Turkey looking to join SCO. Turkey is an important part of China's Silk Road to Europe. It has been locked out of the F-35 project. Who knows, maybe they sense that they need to hedge their bets here.

More good news on the China/South Korea relationship front. I think the recent IRA really pissed off the Koreans and they are coming back to doing more trades with China.

Paragraph 4:

He also said that China will train 2,000 law enforcement personnel from member countries over the next five years and set up a training base focusing on anti-terrorism work.
