Those are really long suppressors. I wonder if they have anything similar to smaller suppressors the westerners use.

Small volume suppressors have limited suppression capacity. It’s just basic physics. Yes, not all suppressors are made the same, but it’s incredibly hard to make a significantly smaller suppressor perform the same or better than a much larger volume unit, assuming the larger unit isn’t just bare bones basic.

Not just the volume of supressors, it depends also on the ammonution that's been used like: subsonic rounds, slower heavier rounds would help to make the noise of bullet been fired quieter. Which also compromise on other ballistic properties.

You ever see how big the suppressor is on the M110? Suppressors come in all different lengths and girths for the same caliber/weapon system. It’s all dependent on the mission and what your needs are. Heck for all we know though can be faux suppressors just for a PR stunt.

I don’t want to go into too much detail about this but you can Google it and read about it pretty easily but basically both the length and girth affects the characteristics of the suppressor (recoil control, sound suppression, blow back gas, light suppression… and so forth).

See how all of their characteristics are different based on your needs? I personally have an Omega 9K because I prefer something compact and allows me more mobility over something that’s bigger and “suppresses” more sounds.

Also one of the biggest misconception the public have about suppressors is that we use them to suppress sounds. In reality, it’s actually really useful (almost a standard operating procedure) when we shoot them at night with our NODs on because they effectively remove the flash and prevents us from blinding ourselves with NODs on.

The Ones on the M110 are as long as they are due to a requirement that they mount over the standard “Bird cage” NATO flash hider. Because the Bird cage isn’t designed to mount a suppressor and a Quick detachment capability was also demanded.
KAC whom designed both the rifle and can had to get inventive. Especially since the M110 has a 20” barrel. So the can isn’t actually that long most of the length is a shaft or perhaps a Sheath with a quick attack latch which mounts on a bracket in front of the gas block. Newer versions of the M110 the A1 and A2 use a muzzle device that allows the mounting of the suppressor quick detach from the muzzle.

Subsonic rounds are partly to remove the supersonic shockwave crack of the round when it breaches the sound barrier that no suppressor can help with; but also partly to help with ballistics by removing the transonic ‘wobble’ that happens when a supersonic round drops below the speed of sound.

The other feature typically used to help with terminal performance is using higher cal rounds like 300 blackout or 9mm to give the round more energy.
