That is just one element.

Then you have the Tesla body construction via gigacastings and the software replacing hundreds (or thousands) of MCU electronics.

And electronics overall accounts for 40% of the car cost.

Hence my conclusion that Tesla is the most vertically integrated automaker apart from BYD.
yeah so can you source where Tesla is realizing cost savings in semiconductors and that it is reducing suppliers in semiconductors?

Tesla only talk about software defined vehicles in general. For example, when Tesla suffered chip shortages, they rewrote software to compensate. You can see the problems other automakers have with chip shortages which have crippled production.

There was recently a press release from a Chinese company saying their new automotive domain controller replaces 3xx individual chips (can't remember the exact number but it was 300+)

NY Times had an article on the automotive chip shortages, which stated up to 3000 chips are in a car.

So it's really easy to see Tesla saving a lot of money on chips and also not worrying about shortages, because they use a smaller number of expensive commodity processors found in laptops and smartphones.

In addition, its easy to improve the car with a software update. That also applies to vehicle safety recalls, which can frequently be applied with software.

In comparison, a safety recall for a specialised chip would likely require a visit to the dealership and physically changing something. That is expensive.

China publishes innovation action plan

CHINA’S technology and finance ministries on Monday (Aug 15) published an action plan to encourage innovation, seeking to guide companies towards areas in line with national needs.

Platform companies, for example, will be encouraged to focus on hard technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Finance said in a statement, referring to a term that generally covers areas such as semiconductors and new energy.

So it's conceptual still, not an actual physical product being shipped. Typical Tesla.

20% youth unemployment is pretty high. Mismatch in the job market too. People spend years on their education and do not want factory jobs. And nobody is hiring cause of Covid/Zero Covid.
I hope they lift zero COVID-19 soon. The longer they wait the weaker the new generation will be as they will have gotten used to sitting around idly and not getting job experience or building their skill set.
