Frankly sometimes I wish our folks up top would, if competence isn't possible, at least put on a show for us once and a while. We're paying them after all, and I'm sure most of us would love a CSPAN with WWE characteristics.
Can you imagine someone like Mitch McConnell throwing hands? It would just mean guys like Josh Hawley get their agenda pushed through via knockout.

We know that Donald Trump certainly will attend, since he did knockout a guy in WWE before his presidency.

So who are the John Cena, Dwayne Johnson and Vince McMahon in the House of Rep and Senate?

No need for a war, or to shoot down Pelosi. I think it was stupid to post on twitter that it was something that it was going to happen and not to do anything.

If the plan was to do nothing but exercises it would have been best to downplay or not mention the visit at all.

In terms of reponse I think the best response would have been an economic blockade. Force them to agree to a Hong Kong style deal. Use domestic agents to cause as much unrest and pressure on the Taiwanese authorities to agree to the deal. As fuel prices have been very high Taiwan have been dipping into their strategic reserves so are unprepared for it.

Again no war - America had Japan under economic blockade for a year with no war between them.

If it's not working it could always be lifted and things can go back to how they are now. It's not like Taiwan is going to invade China.
How the hell are you going to guarantee that Pelosi's visit isn't going to be hyped up, broadcast widely for maximum impact that would have no way not affected China, the Chinese government, most of all the Chinese people that has been told time and time again that Taiwan is inalienable part of China. Do you assume that such a visit would not make much of attention or splash? If China were to treat such visit as a nothing burger then such action or inaction would actually invite a more provocative visits from just about anyone noting that China's reaction has a precedent and according to the Taiwans relations Act, the U.S. will not have any official relations with Taiwan and that includes all high ranking current officials to which Pelos ranked way up high as the 2nd in line to the Presidency.

As for your proposal as a response, I agree in principle but that shouldn't be applied in this context, that should be used as the next move as means to ratchet up (escalatory response) to slowly squeeze the living daylights of Taiwan whilst showing that in terms of what truly matters (economic prosperity ) China holds the ultimate power and lever of Taiwan and not U.S. or Senpai Japan.

That’s very unlikely. Even if they’re getting embarrassed in the engagements the government can never acknowledge it during the middle of these exercises if they don’t want to compromise morale and any will to resist, no more than if the shoe were on the other foot. If there was any notable interactions in those engagements it may take weeks if not months before those stories leak out.

Then just say that none of the fighters even got close. That's the best for morale right. People are stupid enough to believe it.
