China will announce an exclusion zone. They violate it, they take their lives into their own hands. The massive outrage is the point - it's to demonstrate to everyone what the wages of American malfeasance are.
Quite aside from the fact that they're a pack of separatist traitors who shouldn't be negotiated with (to say the least), there's some urgency to all this. Whatever China's going to do, it has to be ready to do in a few days.

I am against deliberately killing Pelosi because that will most likely give the Biden administration great public support in declaring war on China. However, this is the perfect time for the PLAAF to assert itself over the island's skies. It must do so before or after Pelosi's trip.

Planes got shot down lots of times during the cold war, and there was never a war between America and the USSR. This would be like the U2 incident.
In the aftermath of the plane being shot down, assuming Biden wants to go to war he'll need approval from the Senate to do so. Assuming nothing else happens after the shooting, is the Senate really going to vote for nuclear war? No, they'll try and find a political solution first.
As long as standard protocols were followed no international body is going to find China in the wrong as all relevant bodies recognise Taiwan to be Chinese territory.
The only way I see America getting involved is if this escalates into a reunification war, then America will be sending in all the military support it can, but even that is going to be limited thanks to Ukraine.

Exactly. Pelosi is never going to get on that plane no matter what Americans say publically. American politicians are cowards, a few MAGA hippies protesting in the Capitol was a life or death experience for them.
