More details on BYD's appearance in Paris Motor show.

They will apparently display Song+, Yuan+, Dolphin and Seal. Deliveries will start in Q4. I'm surprised that there is no mention of Tang here, since that was the first model to arrive in Europe.

More on Changsha BYD plant. With completion of stage 1 and 2, they can reach mostly production of over 50k. With the addition of Xingsha plant, they can reach 70 to 80k a month between all of the Changsha plants. The Xingsha plant is up to 500 cars a day already.

And, there are reports of many cars parked at the former Stellantis plant at Changsha. Changsha could be BYD's largest production before all is said and done. I find this to be hard to believe but the word is that Stellantis/GAC plant could produce 300k a month (sounds like unrealistically). Maybe the source is actually saying BYD can reach 300k a month overall once they purchase that plant, not sure. But if BYD can get this plant on the cheap, it will have no more problem with production capacity in the near term.

Amazing, that what was lacking for BYD. Higher end SUV.

Yes, Seal is like the Model 3 competitor.
Sea lion is the Model Y competitor.

Currently, China has seen a flood of Model 3 competitors, but not that many Model Y competitors. Model Y is also the most profitable model in Tesla's lineup. I guess Tang is a Model Y competitor, but the Ocean series is more modern and appealing. So yes, this is something BYD needs. And I would imagine this will be exported also.

This Paris Motor show appearance is a big deal. Mark it down.

Looks like someone high up in BYD posted on social media that they will reach sales of 250k in September. Which would be crazy high. I thought they'd hit that number sometimes in Q4, but not before then. There is now speculation on Chinese social media on how they can get to that mark. One speculation is that they can get that Stellantis plant purchased and up and running really quickly. I find that to be quite unlikely, but we will see. I think 200k by September is quite likely.

@ansy1968 look, China is exporting so many NEVs to Philippines in June!

seriously, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Malaysia will all increase rapidly in the next few years. The Chinese gov't can help these countries buy Chinese EVs by helping them build local EV charging network and setting up even more plants.

One thing we need to keep an eye on is the rapid advancement of Chinese firms in the technology around automated cars.

Our fellow member @olalavn posted a couple of things on his twitter account and this really is just the tip of the iceberg of what's going on in China's auto industry right now.

Millimeter wave radar is going to huge. Looks like a pretty compelling product by Freetech.

Aside from this, there are Chines domestic firms everywhere that people in the West have barely heard of.

Huayu is also producing 4D MMW radar

For example, BYD works with Robosense for Lidar

Domestically, a lot of automakers are use snapdragon series or Orin, but most of them have invested in Horizon. BYD will have it's own competitors. With China having its domestic DUV, they should have all the tools needed to produce anything from chips for the electric motor to MCUs to the AI processors.

I'm sure I'm missing quite a few here.

I read it somewhere that Musk said that Lidar/Radar makes the car far too expensive while a constantly updated camer/sensor system that is being constantly updated can do the job just as well.
