Thanks, so the article does show that it is indeed 14nm processes -- but are we sure they are fabbed at SMIC?
Reading the article itself and some of the past articles, I am unable to find a smoking gun that the SW26010-Pro are actually fabbed by smic, but I'd be happy to be corrected.

I do appreciate that leading edge processes are somewhat less important for supercomputing needs and competitiveness. But in the longer term, if the gap in leading edge processes is unable to be closed, then if everything else is held constant, then a degree of bottleneck will still remain.

Edit:
I presume the SW26010-Pro are assumed to be from SMIC given the original SW26010 are *confirmed* to be fabbed by SMIC?
@ansy1968 is more knowledgeable than me to answer this question.

If I understood correctly from one of the posts, according to report from SMIC in late 2021, their 14nm would begin mass production "next year" 2022. That means they had been doing low volume trail production in 2021. It is possible that "SW26010-Pro" is one of the low volume trail products.

It is also said that their 7nm was under trail production as late 2021, so that gives me the impression that 14nm became mature enough in 2021 to supply chips for the exascale prototypes.

If that Sunway chip is made in mainland China there are only two fabs capable of 14nm. SMIC (definitively) and HLMC (possibly).
SMIC has 14nm in mass production and supposedly at high yield. 10nm is also in production.
HLMC used to have 14nm in their roadmap. And then it vanished mysteriously from their website.

Phytium used to fab some chips at TSMC Taiwan. But they were put in the US Entity List.

TSMC originally had plans to make more advanced technology available in their mainland fab as SMIC released theirs. But the US "persuaded" them not to increase FinFET production. They supposedly can only expand 28nm production.

Chinese scientists in U.S. haunted by targeted prosecutions

Even after 'China Initiative' ended, professors struggle to get their lives back

China Initiative was a Trump administration program that targeted Chinese economic espionage. (Nikkei montage/AP)

NEW YORK -- It's been more than a year since MIT power engineering professor Chen Gang was arrested for allegedly hiding ties to China, but even in the months since the case was dropped he is still riddled with anxiety from the ordeal.

Guilty until proven innocent in the land of the free.

Victim-blaming and all that, but if you still remain in the US after what they have done to you, you probably deserve to be treated like a piece of sht. Sorry dude, you are a loser

If you have the cohones, go back to China and contribute your knowledge and experience to make it even stronger so that no other country dares to do such witch-hunts on the Chinese people.

I am really over these cowardly and pathetically weak people. He doesn't have any kind of spine or self-honour

There are a bazillion of other people who deserve more of our attention than this guy. I would prefer to listen to a story of an African who got rid of the shackles of poverty and managed to become highly educated, than listening to this pathetic individual

Bet you that we will have the exact same story of him next year about him complaining while keep living and working in the US lol

Right, I agree that it is "possible" or even "likely" that the SW26010-Pro is being fabbed by SMIC.

But my impression is that as of present, we do not definitively know if this is the case.

There are obviously only a few possibilities, but for something as important as this, the word saying "it is probably fabbed by XYZ" is probably a more accurate statement than "it is fabbed by XYZ".

But he loves American Democracy; the right to live free from Red China oppression, not to mention organic harvesting and the inability to think freely which means there's rigidity in approaching difficult issues. See Covid-19 and host of issues that western countries best exemplified by the U.S. are heads and shoulders above any commie states let alone Chyna.

I also get to practice or join awesome organizations like Falun Gong and watch their true take on history Shen Yun. The myriad of Xtian churches that can set my soul free. Getting beat up for being Chinese due to the Wuhan virus is the price of freedom and it's all worth it.

I mean, is getting beaten up is worth this?

According to HLMC's website, their 14nm is already in mass production. Their 5-7nm seems to be in trail production line if I understand correctly 先进工艺引导线(trail introduction line).

@taxiya bro is that an ICRD logo? so ICRD had JV or coordination with HLMC? IF true, then Huawei 14nm 3D chiplet may have been FAB by HLMC aside from SMIC. Now I think Huawei FAB ambitions maybe limited to 3 FABS (Shanghai, Shenzhen and Wuhan) as they utilized more domestic alternative (FAB are costly to build and operate).
