Did you go to the library to search specifically for that book or you have the book in your possession because that would be an exemplary way of doing your research.
Note that Coolgod quoted something including this:

"They witnessed their share of the orgy of rape and destruction which overtook Manchuria."
--Max Hastings

But Coolgod apparently concluded that 'the orgy of rape' must refer to only a few victims (at worst).

What this means if you force Russia to pay up debts, they will pay in rubles. Since they have coinage power over rubles the Russian government can print any amount of rubles to pay debt instead of defaulting.

Wouldn't this cause inflation in rubles?
Yes you are right, but in 1998 during the Russian Financial Crisis inflation rate for rubles reached 84% without the state collapsing. There's no reason to believe Russia couldn't do it again, probably more so. In 1998 the crisis lasted 4 month. Can Ukraine last 4 month under the assault?

Looks like they're finally stepping up the EW and sensor side. They're going to desperately need this to make full use of their S-400s and ensure no covert foreign intervention.

Have you heard of Library Genesis (Libgen)?
I haven't checked out a book from any library in over a decade.
Edit: I will stop responding to this topic as it is totally unrelated to ukraine. Everyone should too.

I'm amazed... Even with all the warnings about contents of this thread, it seems that there's always someone willing to sacrifice himself to the ban hammer each day, perhaps a good demonstration of what not to do? Just a warning, I know some of you are walking on very thin ice here.

I got a feeling that the Russians will develop a long term hatred of Britain that will be almost impossible to mend after this debacle

@Synapsid bro not want to deviate from this thread BUT I think you forget to ask the Chinese and the Indians regarding their feelings about the British, for me being a Chinese person their crime is greater than that of the Japanese and that says a lot.

I'm not sure whether this has much to do with coping but more controling the battlefield narrative through the visual presentation.
The difference in presentation is definitely very noticable from this Ukrainian map where the Russian controlled areas are a very soft tan only contrasting slightly with the white background to the Russian maps with those massive red-colored Russian controlled areas. Heck even Belarus is red-colored to make it all seem that more impressive.
Looking closely however there isn't actually that big of a difference, both presenting the same military situation on the ground.
The bolded text sounds like a method of coping to me. Controlling the battlefield narrative is an attempt to portray things in a way that is acceptible to you. By that definition, that is equivalent to making your target audience feel better about their faction, aka coping.

But, yes I agree that both are still tracking and verifying the sequence of battles and progression of the two armies.

One can access the internet (at least for some time) without being connected to an electrical power grid.
I doubt that Russia could completely cut off the reporting of terrible distress inside starving besieged Kyiv.
actually, you can't! in a city, the mobile towers, data centers, etc. that make up the network backbone are all grid tied. in rural areas some mobile towers have generators (either solar or diesel) but the data center on the other end is still grid tied.

the phones might be able to run on battery or indefinitely on solar (well, not in the Ukrainian winter) but they're going to be talking to thin air.

it was "up to China" to demonstrate its commitment to global peace at a "hinge point in history".

"No country will have a bigger impact on concluding this terrible war in Ukraine than China," he said.

"So long as they have a bet each way on this, then I fear the bloodshed will continue."

But when pressed on India's position late last week, Mr Morrison said he "certainly wouldn't put them in the same category as China, not even remotely".

"We want to see the world not throw Russia a [financial] lifeline, and India certainly are not doing that. I mean, they're not easing their trade restrictions on Russia, but China is," he said.
