From info like you posted here plus others, it is downed on me that Putin's timing was near perfect. Nowadays, Russia energy and commodities are more of hard-currency than paper money. With China market at his back, he has some real stuff in his pocket to sustain his fight. But US, with inflation already high, will suffer significantly more if energy and commodity costs are shooting higher. If that is the case, the Dems will be swept in the coming mid-term election. As US politics goes, reelection and holding onto Congress/Senator is a paramount priority. If this war dragged on a few months, we are all doomed. Military and geography fallout would be felt but economic fallout would directly affect all of us.
Euro is tanking and dollar is rising.
Do Europeans really in the position threatening China for not condemning Russia. I mean it is already desperately trying to keep its inflation down and daily necessities in stock.
Therefore, US will not get into material fight against Russia before mid-term election. Europe does not have wherewithal to fight face-to-face against Russia anyway. So here we are, Putin is taking his time. He is in a position to choose what/when/how he continues his adventure in Ukraine.
The game is already over.
