If this war dragged on a few months, we are all doomed. Military and geography fallout would be felt but economic fallout would directly affect all of us.

Do Europeans really in the position threatening China for not condemning Russia. I mean it is already desperately trying to keep its inflation down and daily necessities in stock.

From info like you posted here plus others, it is downed on me that Putin's timing was near perfect. Nowadays, Russia energy and commodities are more of hard-currency than paper money. With China market at his back, he has some real stuff in his pocket to sustain his fight. But US, with inflation already high, will suffer significantly more if energy and commodity costs are shooting higher. If that is the case, the Dems will be swept in the coming mid-term election. As US politics goes, reelection and holding onto Congress/Senator is a paramount priority.

Therefore, US will not get into material fight against Russia before mid-term election. Europe does not have wherewithal to fight face-to-face against Russia anyway. So here we are, Putin is taking his time. He is in a position to choose what/when/how he continues his adventure in Ukraine.

The game is already over.

In Ukraine, Russian units have had to travel long distances from supply depots. That isn’t necessarily a failure, but it means there have to be pauses in an advance to allow supplies to catch up.

That creates a special problem for Russia because its military carries three times as many artillery pieces and multiple launch rocket systems as the U.S. military does. Reloading just the rocket launchers of a Russian army -- units of which there are several in Ukraine -- takes as many as 90 trucks per volley, based on Vershinin’s math.

Once Russian forces control the railroads, they’ll be able to move fuel, ammunition, and equipment to the front much more efficiently, according to Roger McDermott, a Russian military specialist at the Jamestown Foundation, a U.S. think tank. That suggests even darker times ahead for the Ukrainian armed forces and civilians on the receiving end.

Despite the “mystifying lack of planning,” the Russian military historically has tended to make early errors and then learn quickly from them, according to McDermott, who also works at the Foreign Military Studies Office at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

“If you get hold of one of the old Soviet maps of the rail structure, you can start to make sense of why they are putting so much importance on a place like Kharkiv,” McDermott said. “Once they have the rail hubs and can control the rail roads, they can start to fix a lot of the problems they’ve had.”

UKRAINIAN ARMED FORCES DESTROYED HEADQUARTERS OF AZOV NATIONALIST BATTALION IN MARIUPOL – REPORT (04 MAR 2022)

The headquarters of the Azov special detachment in Mariupol were hit with the Tochka-U tactical missile system by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, according to the DPR People’s Militia.

According to the report, more than 20 militants were killed.

“The location of the headquarters of a separate special purpose detachment “Azov” in the south-west of Mariupol was struck by the armed forces of Ukrainewith the “Tochka-U” tactical missile system. As a result of the strike, more than 20 militants and 10 pieces of equipment were destroyed,” the report says.

The attack was a result of the contradictions between the UAF command and commanders of the Azov battalion.

Members of the Azov nationalist battalion, who are now blockaded in the city of Mariupol, reportedly refuse to obey and coordinate their actions with the command of the Ukrainian Army.

I saw this and I chose to not post it because it seemed somewhat bizarre and smacked of disinformation. Southfront being pro-Russian and Liveuamap being pro-Ukrainian mean one has to read through more critical lenses on those sites.

Interesting about the sanctions against Russia, today imports of Russian gas by the EU are 3 times higher

All this illustrates is the abject weakness of Russia’s position!

The West has cut them off from the international economic system, yet Russia is still selling to the West? What form of payment is Russia accepting, and through what payment system? Folks want to portray Putout as some sort of strategic-genius, but, my perspective, this action was quite short of long-term planning and preparation, and about 3 dimensions short of 3D Chess!

If Russia is so weak, why don't the west stop buying all together?

Stop buying oil and gas. Show those Russians. Stop buying fertilizer as well! Oh wait, Russia stoping exporting fertilizer to technically they did it help the EU sanction harder.

You may be right. Let's see in a few months if Russia capitulate.
