"Exclusive: Russell Bentley, Texas Man in Russian Army, Says He's 'Liberating' Ukraine"

"Living among the pro-Russian fighters occupying the Donbas region of Ukraine is a former American soldier,
Texas native Russell Bentley."

"In 2014 in Odessa, Ukraine, dozens of people were killed during a clash between pro- and anti-Euromaiden demonstrators.
Seeing footage of this online, Bentley said: "You know what, I'm gonna go to Ukraine, and I'm going to kill the Nazis that did
this, and I'm going to defend people, innocent civilians."

"If I return to the U.S., it'll be on a Russian tank to liberate the U.S., just like what we're doing here. If I go back to the U.S.
unarmed, I'll spend the rest of my life in prison for some bogus bullshit charge," Bentley said.

"But I don't need to go back to the U.S. I have a DPR passport. I'm a citizen of the Donetsk People's Republic.
I'm also a Russian citizen. I have a small house with a big garden, a beautiful, brilliant wife, who's smart and tough and cool.
[She] speaks three languages and is more educated than 90 percent of the people in the United States.
There is no place I would rather live than here."

doesn’t event need a bank account. Could set up a gofundme account and get 100 million in donations.

should we expect Kiev to get flatten.
Would be clearly sad... but if they just lock it up and take the rest of the cake east and south... If the government fled away, nothing left to gain to destroy Kiev. Just stay out of their gun range and wait. It's what the Russian convoy are doing right now.

This happened while the thread was locked. I think this here is another really good example of how effective a deterrent it is when you wave the nuclear stick around.

They were more concerned Russia wouldn't be able to tell a test from an actual attack, and nobody wants to spook the madman. This isn't brain surgery.

He is already mentioning "concessions". Get ready for backpedaling on what does it mean "humiliating concessions"

"UKRAINIAN PRESIDENT ZELENSKIY WILL NOT MAKE ANY CONCESSIONS THAT COULD HUMILIATE UKRAINIANS IN THEIR STRUGGLE FOR TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY - PRESIDENTIAL ADVISER"
If he was wise and not high on his own and western supplies, he'd have quickly made a deal. What he hasn't realized is that Putin is like a boar constrictor. The more you breathe, the more it tightens.

Given the extend of sanctions to Russia, anything other than these 2 options, I would consider this invasion a failure for Putin

1) complete annexation of Ukraine

or

2) Split to two. Eastern Ukraine to become Belarus-like. Western Ukraine Russia-aligned but neutral

(That's assuming that the West is not willing to remove the big sanctions to Russia)
If they annex 60% of the Ukrainian territory (360k square kilometers), leaving only a landlocked Ukraine in less than a month, how is that a failure?
Personally knowing how sensible the Chinese are with territorial integrity, that they are pressuring the Russians to leave Ukraine as intact as possible but if Ukraine don't capitulate they cut the country in two, doesn't matter what the Chinese think.

Thats what I wrote In my option 2.

This would be acceptable for all these sanctions. However I dont know if he will annex them (still acceptable ofc). Most probably he will create 1 or 2 "independent" states

I think there will be discontent from China if he directly annexes all that land. Sure he won't care, but the disagreement will be there

A Russia-aligned Ukraine wouldn't be neutral.
Removal of the sanctions will most likely only happen if the current Ukrainian regime and Russia agrees to a formal binding treaty.
