If it's gatling then it's better to go for the classic "walk the tracer", or one of those wide-angle holosight which they already have, at least those that seen on export models.
Thinking on it some more, I do wonder if maybe they are using it as a high magnification recording device rather than as an optic since that looks like an ATN x-sight copy, so it should be able to capture and record the hits way better than a GoPro thanks to its much bigger and better optical lenses.

That second image is not from the Djibouti base. It's actually from a magazine article on the various aftermarket accessories and scopes available for the QBZ-95. Note the LPVO scopes

It's a bit strange they would advertise those optics given they would have to be imported.
You have what looks like Sig Tango6 and EOtech in the two images.

Given those QBZ-95s in the picture have picatinny rails on top, they'd be compatible with any optic that mounts to picatinny.... so are they advertising their ability to import optics or is it something else... odd.

The images are from a magazine article, which discusses ways to improve the accuracy of existing QBZ-95 rifles, given that they will still be around for a while. I don't have access to the entire article, but it does seem to focus on aftermarket rails and optics as a primary solution.

That makes a bit of sense... Though it is still counterintuitive displaying foreign sourced optics.

I'm sure domestic equivalents will emerge if they haven't already, but still seems a bit of a strange choice of depicted glass.

First it needs to show that it can be done. Then it's a matter of obtaining domestic optics that optimized for 5.8mm ballistic. Do try to remember how many years (more like decades) we've griped about China's lack of ACOG type optics until QMK-152 shows up, thus perhaps this and the next year's police gear expo in Beijing we may have some new optics that optimized for China's own domestic caliber?

If it's simply meant to be an effort to see what international products are out there, of course there is nothing wrong with that.

That said, it's not like there aren't any domestic LPVO makers either, even if they may not yet be the equivalent of foreign products.

Perhaps due to sourcing of kits at hand? Likely the said outfit (?) assisting the said article has a few foreign kits / optics available (as part of evaluation or trial) and they assemble the concept-proving setup(s) for the cameras?

Sig’s reflex line are Chinese made. Same OEM as Vortex (low end line), Primary arms and Holosun
