Is it just me or Chinese manufacturers start to use more PLA designation as an export name?
Like PL-15E, HHQ-9BE (I think), HQ-10E, etc.

It is a new strategy being used by the exporter. A lot of countries want to use the same equipment as what is used by the PLA, not some watered down export variant. Using the same designation could help overcome the mental hurdle.

Isn't the E letter a dead giveaway that it's some watered down export variant?

At least it is based on something that the PLA actually uses.
I'd have questions about that, but if it generate sales then I suppose just go for it.

Especially when many Chinese export arms have names that sound like warehouse catalogue codes no man would want to try and memorize.
