Latest research vessel, Shiyan 6 is off to its maiden voyage where it collected its first samples.

Shiyan 6 under construction and launching at the Huangpu shipyard. Note its electrically driven propulsion pods, and the Type 022 cameo besides it. If this shed looks too familiar, its also the birthplace of many a Type 054A and Type 056/056A.

Bonus news. Shipyard gets a big order from Evergreen.

Great stuff. Shouldn't it be........Designed and Built in China ? Because Built in China could mean built to a foreign specification...

Its for use by the Chinese government. Its currently running around the South China Seas collecting samples.

Note that it uses azimuth propulsion, which is another type of electric propulsion. This one is an example. This lets you maneuver in all sorts of ways at slow speeds. I expect many Chinese oceanographic surveillance vessels of recent vintage to be equipped with them.

Never mind the aircraft carrier, the LNG carrier coming up besides it is a beaut.

This is how you can expect the inside of each tank would look.

Speaking of which, K-Line orders 8 7000 unit car carriers that are LNG powered. Order split between two Japanese shipyards and one Chinese shipyard.
