what do you think of it? will the US restart its trade war against china?

Not entire sure of what that means, we just have to remember two basics points.

The first point is what the Americans proudly call due process, where they will investigate and determine the charges, and I think all players get to have a say. They will go through these motions.

After they do this political theater, the Chinese are always found guilty, like black people, and therefore so-called retaliatory penalties will be imposed under the jurisdiction of US Customs officials.

The second point is these penalties will be tariffs or barriers for commerce.

Same thing Trump did.

Actually, there is a third point, which is probably more important than the first two, and that is China's trade with the world expanding rapidly, including great increases with America.

But we should not talk about that according to Liberal media.

Like critical race theory.

It is not necessary for them to join formally. They could also just go behind the scenes to the Chinese and say look at that US trade war, it would be a shame if another one join them...

An inderect threat so that they could get some benefits here and there from China in order to stay neutral. This is normal in geopolitics and geoeconomics
Not looking good for the EU i'm afraid; that stunt of sanctioning Chinese officials at anglo american behest backfired on the EU and now their market share in China is compromised if the CAI isn't ratified by the EU parliament.

Besides, that's the entire point of China's dual circulation economic strategy; to Cordon off China's economy so that US tariffs and economic warfare doesn't impact Chinese growth and if the white europeans want to actually, y'know behave like a civilised state instead of a white supremacist minion, then they can look forward to another century of irrelevance, fighting for Chinese money and Chinese tourists.
Either way, China wins.

If the European do care that much for their own economic and business interest, they should start to approve the CAI, which gives them a lot of benefits.

Top Australian universities are beginning to see a surge in new student enrolments from China. Why is that happening with the current estranged relationship between the two countries?

Source ? Could be another media spin ?
I'm sceptical about this; i live in Sydney and we're currently in major massive COVID lockdown; in fact 2 of our major ciites- Sydney and Melbourne are in COVID lockdown with perhaps the third- Brisbane, on the verge of a lockdown as well, and along with it, kids arne't even allowed to go back to schools, they're still doing at home learning.
And amidst all of this, Australia is going to open up its borders to allow in foreign students to uni?
I doubt it.

Secondly, this sounds like the type of news that australian media would promote since the government is staring at the prospect of recession since the only thing underpinning the economy is iron ore and real estate prices and without Chinese students, migrants, visitors and tourists and investment, all of that is in jeopardy.

The estranged relationship is between the government and elites of the two countries. No one ever asked the laobaixing whether they wanted to become estranged. For another example, I'm an American and love my country with all my heart, but also love China and want it to succeed badly.
