Its all part of The Great Harvest...
Its now an ever shrinking negative sum pie...
In the new world degrowth order, canalbalization of weaker vassals by the top hegemon is the name of the game
Recall back in 2018, when China didnt cave to Plaza Accord 2.0 the Pompeo said there would be a plague amongst your houses etc

People thought it was strange Xi didnt come to US to sign Trade Deal Phase I...

All things in retrospect
Interesting, do you have the source(s) for:
when China didnt cave to Plaza Accord 2.0 the Pompeo said there would be a plague amongst your houses etc
Thanks.

@escobar also posted a tweet about this (in the World thread I think)

IMO this is a Trade War 2 threat.
The US is going to use this as a carrot against China in order to extract concessions from it.

The only way this works is if they manage to also get the EU onboard. The EU could jump in and also indirectly demand better conditions for its businesses. We will see what happens

TBH, i doubt that will happen. The EU is more exposed to the chinese market than the US, and doesnt have an economy as robust as the US.

It is not necessary for them to join formally. They could also just go behind the scenes to the Chinese and say look at that US trade war, it would be a shame if another one join them...

An inderect threat so that they could get some benefits here and there from China in order to stay neutral. This is normal in geopolitics and geoeconomics
