You could say the same about why China hasn't been able to take back South Tibet, which is actually the biggest Indo Sino dispute, or North Sikkim. And as you said, India De facto controls large parts pf the 20%, while China controls some others while some more are buffers. That is why there is still a standoff. And in the areas that are now buffers, China was patrolling far more than India prior to 2020. In Pangong and Gogra, China even had been building roads over the past few decades deep into the disputed areas, which allowed China to control them, but now those areas are buffers after China moved back on its side of india's perception of lac and out of theose areas compeltely. So if anything, China "lost" fingers4-8.lol

China isn't retaking Taiwan because the US has a defense agreement but they may not come to Taiwan's aid if Taiwan declares independence.

China went from 90 to 95 with these. India went from 100 to 90 to 80 to 70. It's unable to take back Ladakh, Aksai Chin, the parts of AP it disputes, and PoK. So if China is weak for not taking back Taiwan right this very moment, then what does that make India?
Can we also say Japan is weak for not being able to take back Kuril and Diaoyu? Is the US also weak for retreating from Afghanistan?
