Of course it is a struggle. Japan is the nation most at pain, mentally, in face of China's comprehensive rise.
For more than a century, Japan pride themselves as the high east asian race. She completed industrialisation the earliest amongst all asian states. Jealous of European powers holding settlements, she embark on her own imperial expansion against her fellow neighbours, which ended up badly. Her 2nd rise in tech and economy got pounded by her master US in the 80-90s. Even till then she still held on the gdp title in Asia..till 2010 comes around and the very state she looked down upon overtook her.

So the No2 of the US State department will meet the Foreign minister Wang Yi. China clearly folded on this as previously they proposed her to meet with the Chinese Vice minister of foreign affairs.

Loss for China as it is now confirming that the Foreign Minister is just a "junior". Expect more countries to demand the same treatment in the future. Dissapointing
When President Xi and Putin meet with the President of Iran instead of their Supreme Leader, is that capitulation to the almighty Iran or just countries doing business without needing to follow diplomatic protocol to the letter?

Before the Games, Knutson said his staff shipped roughly 72,000 pounds of food and beverages to Tokyo from Colorado Springs, Colorado, where the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center is located. The shipments included in-kind products from Team USA sponsors such as Coca-Cola and Smucker's.

Wonder what the Japanese would say if South Korea did this.

Hard to say since several hypothetical scenarios can happen. Several of them are listed below:
1. The Chinese snubbed her. She got angry. Then the Chinese asked her to come back and she did. Then they “slapped” her by scolding her, her team and, by extension Biden, and demanded them to think upon and rectify their mistakes. In short double humiliation.
2. The US makes concessions. As a result the slap and scolding doesn’t happen.
3. The Chinese capitulate because Xi Jinping is a p***y or the Chinese actually bumped into major problems that require the US to relieve pressure off of them.
In short let’s wait and see.

I wouldnt say that China has any major problem right now which would need the US to ease pressure on it.

The only thing I can see which could make China want the meeting is the Afghanistan issue which obviously troubles it on how to resolve it.
Thats the only reason I could think of for China making a small diplomatic loss on this

We all know the US. If it's number 3, the MSM would be in a field day about how the Chinese humbly backtracked and begged for a meeting after a mistep that caused the US to walk away. As a matter of fact, American media wouldn't hesitate to make this up out of thin air if they got so much as one phone call from China saying it would welcome talks. It was probably ugly as hell for the American team for them to simply try to maintain dignity in their version of the story.

Lol that's what I suspected who @Kaine actually is (Voyager). No offense to you @Kaine but your writing style and your tendency to wax and wane depending on the topic at hand is eerily reminiscent of the previous member who unfortunately got banned.

@Bellum_Romanum yeah bro I noticed it to, I kind of miss him though his quirks and all ;) . I will always consider him a good friend and if he and @Kaine are one of the same, all I can say is welcome back bro and this time please behave so that we can discussed things in its proper context...lol:)

Lol. Welcome back voyager1. And stay out of trouble this time.

Rocket man Kin does the incredible again. Another food shortage, this time confirmed by the UN. It is really the bane of the North Koreans that they have Kim as their leader.

Imagine having China as a neighbour and still having food shortages. Sigh

What does that suppose to mean?

How about "Imagine having USA as a neighbor and still Haiti having so much military dictatorship, corruption, disease and violence. Sigh"?

Or "Imagine having the peace loving Australia on this planet and still Afghans are being slaughtered like animals. Sigh"?

Last time I checked you "Voyager" was from Cyprus, now you move to Australia? Are you trying to stir up fight against China from all over the world by pretending? ;)
