Their population is not that big. It is fairly easy to print some money and distribute the resource directly or indirectly through healthcare and welfare, thereby elevating their living standards.

Japan still has toyota and lexus, which are planning to release 10 EV models by 2025 worldwide. Something needs to be done to contain this company.

The Japanese elite are a sycophantic bunch. But, I wouldn't be too shocked if the recent hostile behavior from them had has a lot to do with the covid-19 outbreak messing up all of their planning for the Tokyo Olympics. The Japanese put a lot of stake on the Tokyo Olympics. And the pandemic messed up the entire event. Not to mention, the Winter Olympics in China will be a much better run show so pretty much stealing most of the glory from the Tokyo Olympics. They feel lot of spite. Once, China becomes more more technically self-sufficient by the mid 2020s, there is little that Japan can even do harm China economically. Much of the cards are in China's favors when it comes to Japan.

Some Japanese are trying extra hard to equalize to be White, in particular the Nippon Kaigi class who are holding the political power. Things like this one, if genuine, are just example of such efforts... from Abe to Suga to Aso to the current defence minister, the entire LDP line.

Much or a lot of Japanese culture was straight up imported from the Tang dynasty.
