Well they didn't ask for vaccine early on out of pride and misplaced believe they will get it from the west. Now they didn't get any from the west. China always support Vietnam they war with French, US etc. I have no doubt China will send them vaccine . But I just found it outrageous of Vietnam ingrate policy to bite the hand that feed them thru history
The Vietnamese is a cunning fox (I'm sorry for using bad words) but in geopolitics, China will need it just like China need the Philippines. Politics is never about right or wrong but it is about where's your stance and what's your profit.

@KYli and @Hendrik_2000 there's no forever friend nor forever enemy. Let the past be gone and move forward. If China doesn't donate vaccines to Vietnam now, the US will do it and they are doing it.

Vietnam is currently in really deep water with daily cases going up every day likely 4,795 new cases today and not peak yet. Vietnam has 98 million people and if 70% of them need to be vaccinated, it would be around 69 million people or 138 million doses. That's a lot for them. So they are trying to use their geopolitical advantage to gain free vaccines. China has donated a lot of vaccines worldwide, why not include Vietnam? If you don't donate vaccine to me (VN), I will go to uncle Sam to get it and don't blame me for not warning you in advance (Sic)!!!
Hm. I wouldn't say that. The past defines the present which defines the future. Regardless I still believe China should donate to Vietnam due to these following reasons:
1. Despite Vietnam being a nuisance, they are certainly better than an American puppet. They are opportunists after all. If the Communist Party in Vietnam collapses, it is possible an American dog will emerge.
2. Not donating vaccines or selling vaccines to Vietnam will make it look like China is taking advantage of their predicament which will make China their mortal enemy. Yes, they dislike China, but not to the level of Chinese and Korean hatred of Japan.
3. If Vietnam falls, refugees will flood into neighboring countries. This will spread the virus around like wildfire and possibly destroy the entire SEA region and create multiple hotspots along the Chinese border.

What make Vietnam thinks it can request 5 million doses of donation from China?

In addition, the country will get 100,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine from the Romanian government in the near future, he said, adding that Vietnam is also asking the Chinese Government for non-refundable aid of 5 million doses of Sinopharm vaccine.

I have no issues with china donating 5 million doses to Vietnam. They have tried their best to fight the pandemic, and generally have done well. China has 5 million doses to give, and this would also reduce cases of covid, vietnam wouldnt squander the doses.

Remember Vietnam borders both Guandong as well as our allies Laos and Cambodia. Helping control covid there helps not only the vietnamese but also our own provinces and other allies.

Don't have problem if China donated 5 millions additional doses to Vietnam or any countries in need to fight coronavirus. However, it is just a thankless gesture. Vietnam government and Vietnamese people wouldn't appreciate it, and demonize of Chinese vaccines wouldn't stop.

In previous donation, Vietnam didn't honor its promise by refusing to vaccinate Chinese in Vietnam first or vaccinate Vietnamese near the border first until China filed a formal complaint. Vietnam is the only country that required diplomatic pressure to honor its promise.

In addition, Vietnam has reject donation until now and never placed any orders for Chinese vaccines. I think if it is given a choice, Vietnam wouldn't ask for donation. Furthermore, these 5 millions doses supposed to be a sales order but now Vietnam demanded these vaccines to be donated.

Vietnam has placed an order of 51 millions doses of Pfizer, 40 + 20 millions doses of Sputnik, and 30 millions doses of AstraZeneca. But at the moment, Vietnam has not placed any order of Chinese vaccines except demanding donation. Donating to a nation that you know would bite your hand and ungrateful just depressing and foolish. But helping Vietnam is helping SEA and Chinese border. So I am not against donation.

So, the US is in the midst of another uptick in cases, meanwhile congress is still pointing fingers and passing pointless bills to "Defund the Wuhan Institute of Virology"

With this kind of toxic politics in the background, how can anyone wonder why China is not just throwing their doors open for "fact finding"?

The US government is literally uninterested in saving people. The politics are so toxic that people would rather risk death.
Breakthrough cases all over the country

Tells you how critical thinking is absolutely frowned upon right now... the Chinese government, by many measures has one of the best (if not the absolute best) covid responses, is responsible for quantitatively improving people's livelihoods (life expectancy, literacy, PPP, etc.) somehow has some evil plot to discourage mRNA vaccines to make their own people suffer!
