My wife just got off the phone with my in laws who are in Lukou district in Nanjing (also why I knew immediately about the 9 cases last night). Status on the ground are as following:

• The Lukou is in lock down, no one in or out of the district. Residential districts are not yet in closed management and you can still go about your business, my folks went out in the morning to get loaded up on groceries.
• PCR testing are under way, the plan is to test just under 2 million people in 1 day. All testing equipments are in place and quarantine hotels are set up and standing by. The people closest to airport are already lining up for PCR test, my folks who are further way are still waiting for their notification
• anyone who's been to Lukou airport on 13/07 or after need to be tested. Anyone leaving Lukou airport currently must have a negative PCR test result no older than 48 hours
• Nanjing's vaccination speed is probaby about average relative to national speed. My mother in law just had her 2nd shot of Sinovac 2 days ago while my father in law is still on his first shot

@KYli and @Hendrik_2000 there's no forever friend nor forever enemy. Let the past be gone and move forward. If China doesn't donate vaccines to Vietnam now, the US will do it and they are doing it.

Vietnam is currently in really deep water with daily cases going up every day likely 4,795 new cases today and not peak yet. Vietnam has 98 million people and if 70% of them need to be vaccinated, it would be around 69 million people or 138 million doses. That's a lot for them. So they are trying to use their geopolitical advantage to gain free vaccines. China has donated a lot of vaccines worldwide, why not include Vietnam? If you don't donate vaccine to me (VN), I will go to uncle Sam to get it and don't blame me for not warning you in advance (Sic)!!!

Well they didn't ask for vaccine early on out of pride and misplaced believe they will get it from the west. Now they didn't get any from the west. China always support Vietnam they war with French, US etc. I have no doubt China will send them vaccine . But I just found it outrageous of Vietnam ingrate policy to bite the hand that feed them thru history
