More like the Delta variant and what has happened in the UK have frightened the Singapore government. So it has toned down its rhetoric. Now Singapore is talking about getting 90% to 95% population vaccinated with Pfizer and Moderna to gain herd immunity. At least Singapore recognizes the risk of complete reopening.

Western misinformation against Chinese vaccines have resulted many deaths. It is funny that they think J&J offers better protection and dismiss blood clog issue of J&J.

I remember speaking to a guy who said some of them went back to visit their relatives back in China and found the reception rather cool, just short of telling them to F O. My guess is they felt let down by not getting enough financial support during the difficult years.

It really depends on how overseas Chinese wants to keep their culture alive. Take my children for example. I always make sure they attend our Chinese association schooling and all cultural activities. Where as one of my children friends who's also half Chinese didn't do that. And he's completely detached from anything Chinese. He's the typical "banana" BBC (British born chinese). Even our chairman's children is like that (unfortunately for them the association didn't get started until they are pass school age).

My children, although half Chinese, can read and write elementary Chinese. And do not feel "alien" during any Chinese discussion or festivals at home or outside. Although they speak English with each other's. But are happy to participate with any cultural events.

Infections on a seven-day average have now exceeded 25,000 a day, more than 10 times the level in mid-May. So far, however, the average number of fatalities per day has held below 30 since mid-April, proof, say scientists, that vaccines are saving lives.

Still, there are warning signs: Britain is currently seeing about 350 hospitalisations a day from COVID-19. While that's a fraction of the rate at comparable points in previous waves, it is up around 45% over the last 7 days.


Not sure what went wrong in Indonesia. Let hope it could contain the Delta variant soon.

UK unlocking lock down restriction is purely political. Boris wanted to be popular and announced the unlocking himself. Many scientist believe it's is too early. The current partial lockdown since Easter has already caused a rise in cases in the U.K.

Japan had to ban all foreign (and domestic) spectators in 2020 Summer Olympics due to low vaccination rate in Japan and recent surges in case load.

On the other hand, China is likely to ban all foreign spectators in 2022 Winter Olympics, but allow domestic (vaccinated) spectators to attend the games, due to high rate of vaccination among domestic population. For overseas athletes, I think China will impose a 2-3 week quarantine upon arrival, daily COVID tests, and a Olympic Village Bubble (similar to the NBA bubble in Disney land) for the Winter athletes, they are not allowed to venture outside it.

Livzon's candidate is a recombinant fusion protein vaccine. I'm not sure if it's the same vaccine described here

, but the principles are the same. From what I read on Zhihu, the fusion design basically allows the vaccine to use traditional aluminum hydroxide adjuvant while getting some benefits associated with advanced adjuvants.

Did anyone watch the piece on the Sinovac vaccine in Thailand on Aljazeera?

Youngsters/Young students are so easily influenced by propaganda news. They would demand that the Sinovac vaccine not be used on them when the only other vaccine Thailand is using is known to have serious blood clots problems, especially on younger people, although rare.
