1998? China needs to do nothing but lay low and develop. It's pathetic analysis that you think a China of 1998 should be offering help to other countries or running its mouth on the world stage.

What can you do? Start a war before you have the economy and forces to win it? Really pathetic take.

Some territories go free completely, especially under the support of a lone superpower against a struggling nation waking up from imperialism and the aftermath of war. That China was able to hold this off from happening even in its weakest hours then slowly build itself to turn the tide making independence today a virtual impossibility while progressing further to inevitable reunion is nothing short of miraculous, both diplomatically and developmentally.

Already talked about this with everyone telling you that China has the air force and artillery to decimate ROC defenses before landing unopposed while you can come up with no rebuttal other than repeatedly comparing the ROC's beach defenses against PRC's amphibious assault with no consideration to any force multipliers.

If the US doesn't take China seriously on literally everything, most certainly Taiwan, then there is nothing serious in the world. The US takes China so seriously that it can't even compose itself, skittishly overreacting to virtually every Chinese breath and movement, perceived and real. You have to be either emotionally charged to the point where you can't think straight or not know the definition of "serious" to make such a delusional statement.

No, rather you wallow in your misconducted analysis.
This discussion is probably better suited for this thread

Rather normal behaviour.
Yes.

Seeing you, expecting them to expose their own hypocrisy is what is strange

I don't see how anyone can interpret my post as asking WSJ/NYT to expose their hypocrisy.

Demanding objective consistency in WSJ/NYT reporting is not the same as demanding WSJ/NYT to exposing their own hypocrisy.

They can be pro-Western vaccines, but don't use the herd immunity/variant excuse to protect yourself, when you didn't afford Chinese vaccines the same luxury or apologist benefit. They pride themselves in "impartiality, freedom, and transparency", well do your fucking job Western media.

You can't be serious with this reply because it's illogical not to mention an overly emotional reply with respect to the stupid comparison of China-Taiwan relations and the latter's quest for de facto Indpendence versus Singapore's potential conflicts with either Malaysia and or Indonesia.

In terms of potential flashpoints that could trigger GLOBAL CONFLICT Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia dynamic isn't even in the realm of discussions or considerations from the strategic level or to a tactical level by any serious governments in the west or by China. There's no similarity at all with respect to your country that is Singapore to the potential world ending conflict that will be triggered if the happy talk and nonsensical reality you seemed to have implied that Taiwan is as good as "independent" and China is just rather impotent from doing something about it. That comment alone clearly shows you have lived your life in comfort and privileged and have not known the costs and products of conflict/war.

Of course I am emotional. People should not criticize the western tilt of Singapore because they do it for reason. Their prosperity and security still depend on US I bring up the relation between Spore and Malaysia to highlight the problem. China does not endear her self to the heart and mind of Overseas Chinese because Chinese failure to show empathy, solidarity, kinship to overseas Chinese. Relationship is 2 ways street. Huaqiao show boundless empathy, solidarity and kinship to China thru out history. When flood or disaster happened in China hat were passed around to collect donation and money was sent to China. In WW II my communities bear the brunt of Japanese revenge. They collect the same men who donate money and shot them in Changi known as Sookching incident. Most of them young men that neve father a family. It was estimated that 60% of Chinese war budget come from Nanyang Chinese money. We even sent young men to transport fuel, food, munition and machinery where casualty is horrendous as the japanese bomb those convoy. 1/3rd perished. Most of the supply that sustain Chinese war effort come from burma road. From Xinhai revolution to recent China reform and opening up Overseas Chinese play a substantial role that few people know. In an era of American hegemony, Deng’s maxim served China well abroad — but it found a chillier reception at home. Thanks in part to its tradition of soft-touch diplomacy, the Foreign Ministry has typically been seen as a weakling compared to its more powerful bureaucratic brethren like the Ministry of State Security, which exercises power domestically, or the Ministry of Commerce, which oversees lucrative industries. The Foreign Ministry’s mission, on the other hand — handling interactions with foreigners and presenting their points of view to Beijing — has tended to earn Chinese diplomats derision and suspicion from hawks and nationalists, who used to refer to the Foreign Ministry as the “Ministry of Treason” for its perceived compromises on issues of national security and sovereignty. Ordinary citizens, too, have made their feelings known: According to one anecdote shared among Chinese diplomats, the ministry would sometimes receive calcium pills in the mail, sent by Chinese citizens who wanted the ministry to show more backbone.

The strategy of “hide and bide” began to unravel in the first decade of the 21st century, thanks in large part to two global shocks initiated by the United States. First was the Iraq War, which showed Chinese leaders an alarming and unexpected side of American power. But the key turning point was the global financial crisis of 2008. If the war in Iraq had struck a blow against the United States’ moral leadership, the financial crisis called into question its basic competence.

On 18th February, 1942, the Japanese army issued a notice asking all Chinese men aged between 18 and 50 in Singapore to go to ‘screening centers’ to collect the ‘Good Citizen Certificate’, yet this was just the beginning of a nightmare. 76-year-old Loh Weng Kee recalled emotionally that his father was ‘missing’ in this ‘screening’ massacre, known as the Sook Ching Massacre. According to the National Library of Singapore, at least 50,000 Chinese were killed by the Japanese forces during the massacre.

Then you need to calm down before you post because this is about to be some literary diarrhea that comes out.

Obviously, because the US built that system when its power was unopposable and China was an insect. The power dynamic is shifting far away from that now and any Asian with an average or above IQ from any country should see that Asia's only chance for honor in the world is with China.
China does not endear her self to the heart and mind of Overseas Chinese because Chinese failure to show empathy, solidarity, kinship to overseas Chinese.
Disagree. China educates and reaches out with its media to overseas Chinese all the time. I grew up watching these programs in NYC with my parents.
Relationship is 2 ways street. Huaqiao show boundless empathy, solidarity and kinship to China thru out history.
If China did not endear itself and maintain a sense of identity in the overseas Chinese population who are receptive, then this could not be true.

Off topic drivel highlighting the need to post without emotional quagmire.

Singapore only licks Western bumholes because during the Cold War post-WW2 era, US was the money center, and China was poor backwards nation.

When China becomes the money center, Singapore will be competing to lick Chinese bumholes alongside Korean and Japanese and Vietnamese, just like antiquity.

These nations only know and respect one thing: Money and Power. China had none of that back in the day, but just you wait bro. Just you wait.

While I disagreed with your take and prior opinion on this matter I can't however with a straight face not see the perspectives you presented here with a degree of understanding, and perhaps if my family's situation and history were similar to yours then I too would harbour the same opinions you have.

Once again, China's approach of strict lock-down and case tracing is to be proven to be the only viable one.

A speed race of vaccination program against the fast mutation of virus seems to be failing. Trying to outrun the virus mutation by developing new version of vaccine and repeat vaccination is like what Chinese called "面多了加水,水多了加面", an endless futile loop.
