055 DDG Large Destroyer Thread

I've never noticed this before, but apparently, Type 055 uses 2 different types of decoy launchers.
There're 1 3x8 launcher and 1 4x8 launcher on each side.

They probably contain different types of countermeasures

I believe what they mean is a pair of 055 can do the job that used to take half 052D flotilla and do it better.

Regarding 055 being 2.4 times of 052D in comprehensive combat efficiency, I remember reading a research paper regarding lunar landing. The researchers have 4 approaches of different mission duration, frequency of reaching moon surface, needed DV, number of launches and rendezvouses etc. Each characteristic has a scaling factor. The higher factor means the characteristic is more desired than others. They then get a score for every approach and got a winner.

PLAN would be doing the same thing to their ships. The characteristics would be cruise range, range of every type of weapon, total number of each weapon type, radar detection range, fire control channels, computer power, number of target being simultaneous tracked etc. PLAN would have scaling factors determined by their doctrine and desired fighting environment. Then each ship will get their score.

It is from a presentation by 赵登平 (Zhao Dengping): 海军使命与海军武器装备建设 in 2017 or before. The presentation was a series of "National Defense Education" drive by the government which involves most of Universities, high middle schools and SOEs. Zhao Dengping was/is in charge of PLAN equipment acquisition and development.

I believe it is a load of codswallop! Besides this forum is about Type 055 DDG large Destroyer, what has it got to do with F15 v Mig 21?

For me, the 055 is probably more than twice as expensive as the 052D, and somehow you need to explain that to the higher ups that it has to be more than 2X as combat effective.
