Considering that there are a total of 16 baseline Type 055 planned, I don’t see construction for Type-055A starting till mid 2020s and Type-055B in early 2030s. However, it is possible for them to upgrade some of the baseline Type-055s to Type-055A standards later down the road.

The type 055 program along with the potential upgrades show a lot of promise for the future which is why I am asking this. It would be a shame to cut-off further type 055 construction when they would have a platform incorporating(rumours) IEPS, railgun, lasers etc

I’m talking about baseline 055, not 055A/B.

It just as likely an "A" type variant could start materialising even sooner, when you consider that they started building the 055s only 2 years after the 052Ds began themselves.

They have practically been in concurrent development with more 052Ds still being built even though construction of the 055 is already fully underway. Of course the two classes are broadly similar in roles but not entirely the same. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if they're already preparing to cut the first steel for the next 055 variant, if they haven't done so by now.

How do you measure the combat effectiveness of 2.4? What marks/scales are allocated for each category of defence/offence of radar/weapon systems?

My machine translation using Google Translate refers to it as "Comprehensive Combat Capability" being 2.4 times that of the 052D.

I also got Shipborne Integrated Radar, Electronic Warfare System, New Weapon System, New Electronic Information System.
