China is pumping billions of dollars into semiconductors, the US is pumping billions of dollars into semiconductors, S. Korea is pumping billions of dollars into semiconductors, Taiwan is pumping billions of dollars into semiconductors, EU is pumping billions of dollars into semiconductors, now Japan wants to pump billions of dollars into semiconductors....

Is there something wrong with this pattern??

Bang on! It will be described as a threat to the global spy complex of American social media apps and overall software stack, and indeed it is.
yes ! they never "fair-play" with harmony os ! so that ! many difficult things for harmony os and its ecosystem in the future ! I read a newspaper in west that HM OS base on Android in spite of Hamony OS not open sourse ! Western media never stop attack Hamony OS !
Fuck them !

So we create a topic for Harmony OS and Ecosystem in this forum after June 2 - the time that Huawei opensource Harmony OS ! I hope many software developers take part in Harmony OS' ecosystem !

@KYli bro, I'm shock China is more advance than Japan? 28nm localized Chips vs 40nm and they had two DUVL manufacturer in Canon and Nikon.
Thing is Japanese muscle in R&D have been relatively waning compared to CHN & US. Just take a look at the R&D expenditure, they are stagnant for more than a decade. Relative lack of Human resources also hurt.

Thats what massive QE does to the country. When there is free money floating around, why bother and do hard work which could pay off in many years later and there could be a risk of failing?

Just sit tight and wait for that sweet QE money from the central bank of Japan printing yen

Harmony OS is open source. I think the timeline for it to become open source was originally slated for 2022 but they changed it to now instead.

The Apple vs. Epic Games lawsuit may also offer a way to get developers to jump onto Harmony OS. Since Apple and Google pocket a substantial amount like 20-30% of all revenues from App in-game sales, Huawei should offer a big discount or special agreement to incentivize app development by non-Chinese companies on Harmony OS.
If all Chinese phone makers jump onto the HarmonyOS bandwagon, then the only major player left using Android will be Samsung no ?

BBK, Xiaomi, Huawei, ZTE can push in some serious money to fund app developers and left Google on her own.
