The fear of and hatred toward China have really clouded American's common sense and judgement.
Sooner or later this childish hatred is going to damn the USA for good because I can’t see America being about to change and actually solve any of there problems, especially right now

Who knows? Maybe he can manage to make China such a threat that the Republicans and Democrats can unite again (temporarily) against a common enemy.

To me, the biggest test of this Biden strategy is if he can manage to pass the infrastructure bill. The details were released today, if he cant manage to pass this through Congress then to me America has already lost.
However, if he can pass it then that would translate for a very interesting decade ahead with tough competition expected between the US and China

I don’t think an infrastructure will work given how long it takes to build anything and how much money will actually be used for construction. To me, there is no chance of such a development really taking off. It should have been obvious from the beginning, Biden is in no condition to lead and Harris is simply too unpopular to really take the helm.

Interesting. Seem Berlin was the “ringleader” that convinced others to get behind the EU’s Xinjiang sanctions.

This is a clarifying moment for Europe, which has spent the past years working diligently on its technocratic toolbox of defensive measures, while averting its gaze from the bigger geopolitical choices it faces in an era of great power competition. “The Chinese are doing us a favor—they are pointing out that all of this has a price tag,” the senior German official said. “Are we prepared to live with a Volkswagen that is half the size of what it is now? That is what this boils down to. That is the debate we need to have.”

How reliable is the source?
It's from the american german marshall fund.

It's also a pretty stupid move coming from Merkel's government, but granted her people probably felt like they needed to throw biden a bone and up until this year, China had been fairly serene about the entire Xinjiang issue.

Indeed, everything is cheap and easy when you gather around the camp fire and talk shit about the evil China.

The shit comes out of the woodworks when there is real money and taxes involved.

What's going to be interesting is how many firms and institutions that support the GOP gets earmarked dollars and how many big tech DEM companies get paid.

By and large, the majority of the segment of the US that is competitive with China is on the coasts. Whether in high tech or high speed rail, which generally caters to densely populated DEM jurisdictions. Hence, it comes down to if the Fly-Over-America believes in shared sacrifices with the coastal elites, by sharing the tax burden.

Also, how are the funds obligated and paid out. Ostensibly, the productivity enabling factors of these infrastructure might not be visible for quite a few years, until then it is carried by the government as a liability instead of asset.
