Biden is more dangerous. Trump is alone but Biden have backup from european allies. We will see more sanction from US, EU and its allies soon.

Just off the top of my head, the J-10, the J-20, landing on the far side of the moon, quantum satellite, various radars, hypersonic glide weapons, even more rumours of that rail gun on a ship, that has all happened since that sanction was imposed.

in this case, perhaps it will a good investment for China to keep reminding Muslims about American atrocities in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria and especially American policies in Palestine. If China can't improve its reputation in Islamic countries, it can at least make the West's reputation look even worse.

Japan had two industrialization stages early on. There was the late Tokugawa period where they tried to reproduce Western weapon systems and then there was the Meiji Era. I think Qing China did a similar modernization to the late Tokugawa period one, but the Meiji era type of modernization simply did not happen. Also China did its modernizations much later.

Qing dynasty did try to modernize via a series of reforms that were known as the Self-Strengthening Movement. Basically it was similar to the Tokugawa Era level of industrialization since they bought a lot of Western equipment to kick off their industrialization. However it failed due to several reasons: 1. Foreign pressure was too high 2. Economy was in shambles 3. Chinese society was fractured 4. Corruption was just outright rampant
Technically speaking, Chinese industrialization truly started from the ROC era, but the PRC took it much much further. I would say that the Chinese have already finished the Meiji level of industrialization a while ago.

True. Industrialization would require a drastic social change. I figured the reason of corruption would encompass that as well since corrupt officials and leaders wouldn’t want the status quo to change.

1. My apologies first, have to go all language police here, the word dud means something that does not work properly.

Unless we believe hate crimes were the stated goal or unstated goal of this policy smearing Xinjiang, then it is a dud.

Since the smears started under Trump, who people claim is a racist, then it is plausible that this policy about smearing Xinjiang is to provoke racial attacks in America. That would be official US policy, to prosecute their own minorities. That I feel is a stretch, but that is America, so who knows.

No, the anti-Asian racism is due to "Chinese Kung Flu" or "Chinese Virus" perpetuated by Donald Trump. It is definitely NOT due to accusations of genocide against Uyghurs, like most Americans never heard of Xinjiang or heard of Uyghurs. If anything, anti-China critics claim to hate CCP Government, not the Chinese ethnic people, so you are stretching the facts to fit your narrative.

Hate crimes against Asians in US is not due to genocide in Xinjiang, but due to xenophobia stemming from the pandemic.

It doesn't matter if US/EU whine about Muslim rights, because the vast majority of Muslim nations agree and support China.

Do you want to know why Biden is theatrics and tough rhetoric only aimed at domestic audience?

Only two Chinese officials sanctioned over Uyghur issue. Two.

Trump did FAR more over Xinjiang and HK.

Goes to prove that Biden is doing an illusion of tough guy policy on China to appease the Republicans in a show of bipartisanship...but once Biden realizes Republicans won't be convinced and will never be satisfied with Biden actions, the sooner he can drop hisbl tough guy cascade and treat China relationship the respect it deserves.

As we will soon see, if China escalate, Biden will fold as a paper bag. Biden has no balls to escalate the tech war or trade war. He might sign some bills boosting US investments with some mean words on China, but that's it.

This! Biden is boxed in by Republicans on any and all issues regarding China. Biden cannot appear weak on China.
