I don't think sanctioning countries or individuals who choose to boycott the Winter Olympics is a good idea as it would be perceived negatively by the fence sitting countries. It' sad indeed when Uk politicians believe their own fake news.

Doesn’t have to be formal sanctions. Remember how Chinese travel agencies/tour companies all independently decided to boycott South Korea after THAAD.

I think the fence sitting countries will totally understand as China will only sanctions countries that rabidly anti China and is hellbent on igniting coldwar 2
The neutral countries will do exactly the same thing China did had they are in China position

Guys I didn't think I advocated sanctioning the U.K. I just pointed to the fact last time they try to get on their high horse and boycotted Moscow Olympics. It was a right debacle. Most of their athletes went to the games against their own government's wish.

The result this time would no doubt be the same. The only difference is their impact on the game because their winter Olympians are worse than the summer Olympians. They'll be flying like on Eddie the eagle. Lol.

Britain? Like their winter Olympians, are second rate. Yet the likes of Rabbs still think they are the heavy weights in the world of geopolitik. Lol

Is there a way for forecast when glacier bursts occur? If it is possible to set up an advanced warning system then we could avoid huge loss of life.

Even if glacier burst was forecasted, the dam would still be damaged. Only way for India is controlled bursts before it get too big , similar to avalanche control with explosive or rebuild the dam further down stream.

Basic tracking would have been sufficient, glaciers are hardly famous for their incredible speed, quite the opposite really.

China monitors its river ice annually to actively break up large ice chunks before they get big enough to become a hazard to bridges and dams downstream. The PLAAF even uses this opportunity for a bit of target practice.
