i heard that theory too. However, in this case, i dont think US tried to topple MBS. It was rather domestic issue.
Yup a warning and suddenly MBS had become a puppy no more swagger that we had seen from him before, truly a humbling and embarrassing experience.
The moment KSA goes, USD is history.
Yup the petrodollar, I admire what MBS is trying to do, he know that the oil will eventually run out and need to diversify, but the problem is he's incompetent and surround himself with yes man and foreign adviser.
As much as dumb saudis are, i don't think they would put their eggs in one basket. Russia wont particularly mind giving "protection" if things come down to that, despite all the "differences they had during the last "oil war" if russia gets the chance to bury US forever.
They're competitors and Putin can't be bought, without Russia OPEC is useless. The only country who had the resource and capacity is China, but they prefer Iran instead which is a good choice cause Iran has the capability to become a regional power.

I agree, thats conventional wisdom. However, if US tries to be naughty, the enemy of my enemy is my partner in crime.
For russia to get a chance like that, i think they will take it over OPEC competition ;)

@Nobonita Barua ,

Same here bro, but Russia had no leverage with the Saudis, the same with Erdogan, both of them back stab Putin multiple time. I admire Putin temerity and patient in dealing with both.

Exactly. Thats why i think putin will play outisde conventional wisdom. In normal scenario Russia has no leverage over KSA. But what if US becomes naughty & tries to bring democracy? I am pretty sure MBS has back up plan for that . ;)

An unlikely chance, but my feeling is that if Russia gets the chance to bury US, it will take it over rivalry with KSA. KSA is no existential threat to Russia. I have been watching with interest where the S400 goes with saudis .

@Crang

Yes, but not me, Salary for domestic help is at $70-80 per month, yes you read that right , it is cheap and will get more cheaper as the unemployment rose higher. We had to many people chasing fewer jobs. I had a large house in San Juan a major upscale municipality in Manila that I let my employees live to make it upkeep since most of them came from the province. While I live in a Condo in Manila. Now you ask why live in a Condo , well its convenient since I do most of my work in Manila also less hassle with the traffic and its cheaper, having a large house cost a lot of money to maintain. Previously I had to hire 3 helpers to maintain the house since they lived with you , you had to provide their living quarters and food, it is like having a second family and we treat them like one. Most of them are girls with the age ranging from 16 to 20 , yes teenagers cause they need to work desperately to earn money to support their family in the provinces. This is the sad situation of my country. We are an agricultural country but we import a lot of our food (rice, frozen pork and chicken) while we export workers to the rest of the world. Ohh one more thing, the Filipinos value girls rather than boys, cause girl can easily be employed and they work harder than boys.

I will give you an idea where Mainland Chinese wish to migrate, Rich to middle class the western world , lower class to the Philippine. $400,000 you can have a family with the local woman ,can buy you a house employing domestic help, a car and have the remaining money to do business.

China announces sanctions on 28 U.S. individuals including Pompeo

BEIJING, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- China has decided to sanction 28 persons who have seriously violated China's sovereignty and who have been mainly responsible for a series of crazy U.S. moves on China-related issues, a foreign ministry spokesperson announced on Thursday.
They include Michael R. Pompeo, Peter K. Navarro, Robert C. O'Brien, David R. Stilwell, Matthew Pottinger, Alex M. Azar II, Keith J. Krach, and Kelly D. K. Craft of the Trump administration as well as John R. Bolton and Stephen K. Bannon.
"These individuals and their immediate family members are prohibited from entering the mainland, Hong Kong and Macao of China. They and companies and institutions associated with them are also restricted from doing business with China," the spokesperson said.
Over the past few years, some anti-China politicians in the United States, out of their selfish political interests and prejudice and hatred against China and showing no regard for the interests of the Chinese and American people, have planned, promoted and executed the crazy moves which have gravely interfered in China's internal affairs, undermined China's interests, offended the Chinese people, and seriously disrupted China-U.S. relations, according to the Foreign Ministry.
"The Chinese government is firmly resolved to defend China's national sovereignty, security and development interests," said the spokesperson. Enditem

Logically it would mean nothing if people were true die-hard anti-Chinese because they would have nothing to do with China in the first place but we've seen so many Republicans take an anti-China stance yet are heavily in business with China. It's like how many Republicans support anti-gay legislation and then it turns out they're gay themselves.

Boys lets survive till then atleast!

Then we celebrate!
As I said it before, it might be as close as 2025.

The Japanese are usually pretty conservative with their estimates, I wouldn't be surprised if the date was closer to 2025 than 2026.

The thing to really watch out for is all the tech that's coming out of China in the next 2-3 years. By the way innovate/integrate, once they can domesticate 24-14nm semiconductors, you will see a lot of collapse in major Western tech firm (particularly US firms) as Chinese tech out competes them in both price and performance.

Once corporate revenue falls, military is not far behind as everything is based on tax revenue.
