Hong-Kong Protests

These silly kids think announcing " i cut off all ties with my friends and family in hk" will prevent them from being constantly monitor.

In the year of mass protest and rioting, I never saw any agenda besides "china evil". Can you please enlighten us with some of the solutions that the pan-dems/protesters/terrorist had in regards to fixing the inequalities in hk?

Exactly, All year, these "pan-democrats" offered absolutly nothing except Fxxk you, China. And organised mass riots, making petrol bombs, killing and destroying. only a few post ago, @Crang reminded us of what these thugs were like (and that was a mild version). Yet, our friend didn't even bothered to condemn it all year.

These "Pan democrats", ever since they got elected, are happy to take their Government salaries (six figures sums), whilst at the same time, all they did was to disrupt government business.

And now our friend here got a cheek to complain about lack of welfare. etc. Gee.
How you figure SCMP is pro China? It's clearly not.

You know our friend here got mind bending abilities. right? lol.

All I can say about SCMP is that it's not worth reading by anyone. Shit writing.

I wouldn't say that, it's quite entertaining as long as you don't take it seriously. Obviously, some members here do! lol.

@Dolcevita

Damn, you beat me to it!

Surprised this wasn't posted. More evidence of outside money. What sort of man of God would abandon his followers to the "cruel" authorities?

I don't think SCMP can be easily classified as pro or anti China. They have writers on both sides. Coincidentally the news editor Yonden Lhatoo is Tibetan born in India, but probably the most pro-China voice. Alex Lo is another pro China. Ian Young is more anti CCP.

Anyone know if the past 4 months count as time served in the China judicial system? When they return to HK , they need to fire the judge(s) if they are given bail again.

I always find it funny when i see Hong Kongers have English (in this case Irish - Quinn) surname as their first name. I once met a Hong Konger with the English name of Washington.

It has been like that for many years. Many young girls also have Japanese first name.
I think the reason would be that we Chinese surname are in the first name and the Anglos are in the last. So, that's why there are so many Hong Kongers have English surname as their English name.

Yes, it counts, actually according to this article its 5 months. After that, they must go back to HK for to face the their original crime trial.

"Since the fugitives have been in detention pending trial for five months, this will be taken into account in the computation of the time to be served under the final sentence. In practical terms, therefore, many of them will likely be back in Hong Kong in the near future, perhaps sooner than most people expected."

SCMP probably is a counter-propaganda outfit.

After Chinese billionaire Ma Yun bought it years ago, it changed.

Today, it seems like all the writers are women, and most of the articles read like gossip columns that are fact free, but the correct prejudices are constantly emphasized.

The articles are in English, the audience will not read things they want to hear, and not hear the truth.

This kind of hides whatever China is trying to do.

The South China Morning Post, under the ownership of Ma Yun, who is a card carrying Chinese Communist Party member, is being as transparent and it can be, by publishing nothing relevant.

Read the SCMP for China info, China would remain as opaque as ever.

This seems like what classic counter-propaganda is.

If the idea is to sneak up on someone, they get by them, this is the way to do it. Make they fall asleep, enjoying their dream, and by the time they wake up and realize what they were reading was all a dream, it will be too late by then.
