China's SCS Strategy Thread

Thank you, I am aware of the massive Chinese Filipino presence in the Philippines economy, 7 out of 10 most richest Filipinos are Chinese Filipinos, this is a clear testament that the country's financial sphere are dominated by the Chinese. But what seems to be missing is political parties that caters to the local Chinese minority. In contrast, neighboring countries like Malaysia have the Malaysian Chinese Association Party, In Indonesia, there used to be the Chinese Indonesian Democratic Party that existed from 1948 to 1965, I'm not quite sure what happened to the party post 1965. Anyways, the presence of Chinese settlers in the Philippines pre-dates the arrival of the Spanish colonists so there shouldn't be any question about their legitimacy to have a say in Philippine politics. The establishment of a Chinese Filipino political party would be helpful in facilitating the improvement of relations between PH and China as well as promote increased interaction in trade, commerce and cultural exchange. This will also enable China to extend its soft power influence in South East Asia.
Compared to Indonesia and Malaysia where there are outright discrimination and hostility from the highest level in government, The Philippines seems to have followed a different path. Filipinos are more adapting and accommodating which allows the Chinese community to assimilate better. Discrimination and racism do exist but not at the same level. This benefited both parties as the Chinese-Filipino community can actively contribute to society. The Chinese in Malaysia and Indonesia are more likely to want to leave the country because of discrimination.

Hi Dolcevita,

Good analysis , It's also the forgiving character of the Filipinos, Many attributes points to our religious faith, it may had a contribution, but from my owned analysis due to my country archipelago nature, Regionalism may play a part. That's why past president never been persecuted and corruption is rampant.

I can't speak on behalf of our fellow compatriot in Indonesia and Malaysia, but from outside looking in, the former were besieged while the latter had the numbers(before liberation and if you include Singapore). The former use their wealth for protection and therefore were extorted , while the latter join the political mainstream. I think the Malaysian Chinese had an escape option (Singapore) so they don't bother to assimilate themselves with the locals..

Hi bro,

good day,

As far as i know he allows multinational mining companies to abuse rural land and populations. In who's favor? Wrong again, he stop all form of large extraction of mineral, Bro please google Gina Lopez , see why Duterte selected her for the post of DENR.(Dept of environment and natural resources). You can see the brilliance of Duterte, He used an oligarch elite (Gina Lopez) to go after her own kind, most of those mines that were closed are own by the Elites and oligarch. And a Australian firm who had the backing of the previous President were never allowed to operate. He close them all. I think the sample of BORACAY CLOSURE is a good case study of Duterte leadership, I advise you look into it and we may have a good discussion.

How many years passed after Duerte promised rural prosperity? About 4 years, is that enough time for you to solve a CENTURY OF NEGLECT AND ABUSED by the LANDED ELITES (oligarch) , which I may say control the power of gov't and institution before Duterte came into power?

That is why the NPA(insurgency) is a peace and order problem, they had no support from the populace and had resorted to extortion to survive. Their main theme are Filipino nationalism, rural justice and reform. Well Duterte is doing all that, their propaganda won't sell cause their ideas coincide. Like what I mention before He is like them, DUTERTE is a SOCIALIST leftist democrat, they had their chance when Duterte appointed 4 leftist to his gov't early in his term, they bungled it when they over extend their demand and attack the gov't forces believing Duterte will cave in. They underestimate him and therefore suffered the consequences.

Thank you for the info! I'm going to dig. Have a good day

That's interesting but uh, what does it have to do with the SCS?
To remind japan who is planning to increase naval patrols in scs along with their american master and to a lesser extent nato who also plan to patrol the scs, that they are not the only ones who can form alliances

There are plenty of similar models used by other nations. In addition, many such UUVs are used for civilian scientific research and these are not exclusively for military applications.

Such wave rider UUVs are also, as the name suggests, wave riders and rely on sea currents for the overwhelming majority of their power, which is what gives them their long endurance. It’s doubtful they would have the ability to break free if caught in strong enough currents.
